Hi Ladies! My name is Sanjay and I am Jamaican born and raised! My FH is also from Jamaica. My FMIL is getting the black cake for us which we will put in the cake box. I definitely want to have a Jamaican DJ, but I am having problems finding a good one since I have not been living here for long.
Does anyone know of any?

Look up Showcase Bashment... Consisting of Pablo and Magga Don. I don't know if they have that much experience with the Wedding atmosphere but they are sick with the music. I went to college with them and since we came back to NY they blew up in the club scene. Again wedding run a lot differently than clubs so I don't know abou their experience there But I was thinking of asking them myself.. I'll let you know what they say.

Hello ladies. I am Jamaican and so is FH and we wanted a great west indian dj esp since we would be taking our guests from the parade that day so we found kirk from energy entertainment. He is on gigmasters. He has lights, smoke machine name inlights and his prices are really great. FM if you need his info.

Kirk did my wedding also. He was really great! And yes he is definately on the more affordable side. I as well as my husband are Trini.

Re: West Indian Brides
I am trying to decide what songs to have played when me and my bridal party walk down the aisle. I should add that I'm having the songs played on a steel pan so I am looking for popular songs that people would know without hearing the words. I'm leaning towards 'Back at 1' by Brian Mc Knight for me to walk to but I'm stuck on what the girls should walk down the aisle to. I was thinking of 'Ribbon in the Sky' by Stevie Wonder.
What are you ladies using?

Trini here, FH is guyanese
Some traditional stuff we will be doing will be limited.... -we are having boxed black cake on a separate table so whoever wants can take -we want a steel pan band for CH and I can't really think of anyhting else

FH and I don't really want a black cake but his mom really wants one so we're having the cake, and a guyanese dj (fh and I are guyanese, fh is a dj and our dj is one of his friends)....
OMG, I thought I was the only one. Yea I hated the idea of black cake at my wedding but apparently it will be a disgrace if we don't have it....I realized that if FH's mom was willing to take care of it then this is one I should just let go

I am not, but my FH is from Trinidad. Oh, I have a good question to ask everyone then, does anyone know any tassa drummers, he really wants them for the wedding?
