West Sayville Country Club - Seafood Festival HELP
We just learned that my sisters wedding which is going to be at the West Sayville Country Club is the same weekend as the Seafood Festival at the Maritime Museum! There are bands scheduled all day and night. Her ceremony and cocktail hour are outside and we are very worried the music from the festival will drown out the ceremony and cocktail hour. Has anyone had a wedding during the festival? Or been to a wedding during it?? Could you hear the music and crowd from the festival?? Any insight would be great. Thanks!!!

I've never been to a wedding during the seafood festival but I live across the street from the golf course and go every yr you can most definitely hear the music from festival half way down the block. So it definitely won't be quite and the other thing is they do the bus shuttle pick up and drop off in front of the west sayville country club so there is ppl walking all over the grounds during the festival.

I've been and lived near there, you can def hear the music and there will be people everywhere not to mention traffic. I am shocked they would schedule a wedding that weekend at all. The festival does draw a huge crowd and as stated above people walk all over the grounds. I mean there really is no going back now, unless you're talking about next year, but I would have her mention something to WSCC and they should definitely compensate in some way. They have this festival every year and know roughly when it is and should definitely warn someone when booking weddings about it.
ETA: I've been to the festival, not to a wedding there during the festival.

Thank you both for your responses! She is beside herself and very angry with the man who books the weddings. He is downplaying the whole thing. They have decided to move the ceremony to Timber Point (also a Lessings place) and then come back to the WSCC for the cocktail hour and reception. This way she will still have her peaceful ceremony on the water. However, we're doing a huge mailing to all guests to let them know of the changes, changes times with florists, band, etc. You can only imagine. Yikes. Thanks again!

Timber point was booked for a wedding already, but they could squeeze her ceremony in. She figures the reception is inside so is ok with leavign it at the WSCC. She's not a happy camper right now

Wow, I'm really sorry she has to go through all this. I hope they are throwing in extras for her to compensate. At least they were able to get her in Timber Point for her ceremony but still she must be so upset.

omg that is awful I am so sorry I can't even imagine. If she is dealing with Steve he is a really nice guy I am suprised he would book a wedding during that time like absolutely shocked. i go to that festival every yr and i have never seen a wedding going on the same time. I would think they would try to compensate her in another way by seeing if they can move the date and pay for the change of invitations to be sent out i mean that is completely unacceptable they definitely should know better to not schedule wedding around them they know 1 yr in advanced when they are maybe more i just know the public can find out a yr in advance the exact date and rain date of the event he should of told them a yr ago that hey there is an event on the property happening the same time can we move your event to another weekended.
