West Side Stadium!!!!!!!!

In doing some research on a financial project I'm working on at work, I've learned that both the City and the State of NEW YORK, have pledged $600 million dollars for the construction of this damn stadium!!! The money is to come from their operating budget!!! And the city COULDN'T find all this money when they closed those firehouses!!!??????
I don't give a FLYING FIG if I get flamed for saying this: But I hope to God Bloomberg DOES NOT GET RE-ELECTED!!!!!

I don't really know where I stand on this.
If you can get the same level of productivity with less fire houses (same response time) then I don't have a problem with having less (I don't know if productivity/response time has gone down or not).

I know you have to spend $ to make money- and although I don't know the financial projections, I'm sure the city will make $ in taxes and money generated from the stadium- from increase in mass transit ridership, to increase in hotdog sales to increase in car parking, etc- there is no doubt that there will be a revenue flow increase from the stadium.

Whether or not that revenue flow makes it attractive to build the stadium keeping everything else constant I have no idea....

I feel like real financials haven't really been publicized... probably b/c no one really knows.

I think all -in-all Bloomberg has done a decent job- he's closed the defecit- which make him unpopular but has to be done... Not that he's my fav- I'm not a Republican as you all know.. but even as a Democrat I think he did better than we can guess what Green would've done.

Not the same response time, I don't care how many 'studies' the city has done since closing those firehouses!! They will say just about anything NOT to look stupid! (more than they already do)

I work in a city middle school with an average class size of 35-36. We need to build schools, not stadiums.

don't get me wrong - I'm not against the stadium altogether - BUT if they could find $600 million dollars to build it, then why close down 6 firehouses, that probably would've cost a FRACTION of that amount to keep open??? Just doesn't make sense!!!

i am with you!!! schools not stadiums! contracts with teachers, not athletes or businesses! he pisses me of! catholic schools are closing, which means more overcrowding in schools. ugh!

I guess to me there is a difference between money spent to build somthing and money spent to continue a service.

Should teachers get more $$$, yes...

But to me, the stadium is in the same category as building a new train line.. it's a capital improvement.

And building the stadium will employ builders, engineers, etc... which is always a good thing.

I'm torn... whether they build the stadium or not, he's not going to re-open those fire houses...

I HATE BLOOMBERG AND HIS ADMINISTRATION!!!!!!!!!!

Big Bird could've been in office after 9/11, and we would still be better off!!!!!!!!!

I am definitely against it!!!!First of all anything that brings more traffic than we already have to the area is a no no.

Secondly, the idiot Bloomberg (and Pataki?) thinks its more important for us to throw our tax dollars into this corporate loving project instead of worthy causes like school and libraries.
