Westbury Manor

Original post by bride2be1012

Hey ladies,

So I think that Westbury manor is my current first choice for my ceremony/ reception.I'm looking for some opinions from other girls who have booked there. I haven't done a tasting in the restaurant yet, so I would love to hear some feedback about the food. Also, can anyone tell me about their experiences in negotiating prices. Did you have success in getting the price down or getting extras thrown in. FMs are fine if you don't want to post here.
Thanks so much!

I did meet with her and she is just great! I'm so happy I am going to be working with her
I got passed martinis, red and white wine on the tables and a touch of Viennese for dessert ( a fruit spread with cookies and pastries) This plus a lower price pp. I am definitely happy with my deal.

Welcome to the WM brides. That place is amazing. We knew from the very begining we wanted to book there. They really work with you on your budget and they love to throw in extra stuff. We'll see you at the next showcase Oct 28th.

I was able to negotiate down $5 per person and and also got a few extras known in. Yay!
I'm looking forward to using my gift certificate in the restaurant and getting to see what the food is like.
Thanks for all sharing your opinions. It was really helpful!

Congratulations!

Re: Westbury Manor

So I ate at their restaurant this weekend using their gift certificate. Everything was incredible! My fried calamari and sea bass were out of this world. My mom and fh's also loved their food. I'm very picky, as I grew up with an Italian mother for a cook, and I could not have been more pleased. There were two weddings going on that night, so I was able to chat with some of the guests in the hall. Everyone was raving about the food and service. I also got a chance to walk through the gardens at night. It looks stunning with all the lights on. This trip definitely made me feel very confident about my choice

Re: Westbury Manor

WM is currently my first choice until I see a few other halls this weekend (Swan Club, Sans Souci, Smithtown Landing Country Club).

I met w. Mel and he seemed very nice, friendly and willing to help me pick out a package - so far I love the fact that their food choices are better than the other places I've visited (Coral House, Manor East, Verdis of Westbury, Garden City Hotel) but I didn't like how he kept pressuring me to book that same day for my wedding. I still haven't decided partially because he said there is a 30% fee/gratuity added on top of my price - whereas other halls were around 18-20%. Even Sans Souci told me its 20% and their menu packages start at the low end of $75/person which is quite reasonable.

So I still havent decided but I loved the feel of WM because it doesnt look like a 'traditional' catering hall (ie Crest Hollow). I just wish the prices were fantastic as well

Re: Westbury Manor

I just checked my Westbury Manor contract and my service charge is 20% plus 8.25% state tax. Do you mean 30% when you combine the two or 30% just as the service charge?

LegalDiva Posted:

Re: Westbury Manor

He said 30% would be service charge..so w/ taxes and everything, the real head count would be $120/person. That was what made me think twice. I plan to talk to him again soon to iron out whether the 30% is really just service or includes the sales tax, that can't be right...

Re: Westbury Manor

Yes, I'd definitely double check. It doesn't make sense for me to be given such a lower service charge than you. Any other Westbury manor brides want to share what their service charge was?
