Westbury Manor BM / Afterhours Dj

Hi Girls,

I am a Westbury Manor Bride to be...September 18, 2011. Has anyone been dealing with the BM Mel and what do you think of him. I am currently being pushed away with all my questions and concerns and its so frustrating to me. I want my day to be perfect and know the in's and out's of stuff I will be able to do and not. Do you think I will be able to change BM if I asked, I am so pissed about this whole thing.
I also have another question for the girls who are used or are going to use afterhours DJ. Are they resonable with price, how is their work and what was the outcome of the day after using them. I was planning on using the band, but don't know what type of $$ we are looking at, or add a live percession to the DJ.

I am working on that. It's so stressful being yes to death and not getting what I want out of the entire experience.
I am contacting someone there today and hopfully make a personal apperance to see whats going on.

I guess this is the bridezilla in the making now...lol

I booked with Mel and then NEVER spoke or dealt with him again. Anytime I called with any questions or to make my appts they told me I could just speak with ANY BM it didnt have to be who I signed with. AND I just started to ask for a BM in general. You dont have to deal with him, you dont have to say anything specifically about not wanting to work with him because you dont after you sign with him. Your final appt isnt with him, your appt to pick your cake and linens and stuff is not with him so your fine.

Wow, thats great to know. I will still call to see someone cause I do want to know what I can and can not do for now, since I want to have a sense of all that will happen that day.

Congrats!!!!!! How is married life, any different then everyone says it is?

I am thinking of having a memorial table, where me and my future hubby light the candles ourselves. Also since you had your wedding there how is the cake, I have heard good and bad rumors on the bakery. We are actually going to a cake tasting in October. We are looking to upgrade if possible as well.
I do appreciate all your help on this!!!!!!!!!

Its really not different, but we were living together prior so there was nothing to adjust to. I think its only different when you havent lived together prior to it. =) I LOVE being married and saying my husband and especially hearing him say my wife! =)) And of course I LOVE finally being able to wear my wedding band! LOL

The memorial table I am not sure about, Ive only seen/heard of the pics set up and candles being there that they light, but not actually lighting them there. Are you having your ceremony there, is that what you mean? Because Ive heard of the memorial candle and lighting a memorial candle during the ceremony.

The cake was AMAZING! We had marble with cannoli cream. I got a lot of compliments on it that it was very good. The cake visually was GORGEOUS as well, 5 tier, square. I didnt upgrade and my florist added flowers it was GORGEOUSSSSSSS.

Can't help you with WM but I am using Afterhours....

Phil is phenomenal and a great person to work with; I found his pricing very affordable.

They are having a showcase this Thursday at the Four Points Sheraton in Plainview...check out their website.

Wow, thanks so much girls...I am going to the showcase this Thursday for the DJ....I am so excited.

The Manor I have spoken to someone there and she calmed my nerves now. I can't wait to taste the cakes from the bakery now!!!!!yay

No you dont tip the BM. The day of you are given a bridal attendant and a maitre'd you tip those 2 THAT night AFTER the wedding.

I depends on how you feel with him and how he works with you. If you like him, you don't have to do a thing, but as for me I am not liking him that much and will deal with it when the time comes.
What room do you have at the Manor?

Love afterhours - have no clue on the band prices but thought the DJ was pretty reasonable

I am in the garden room and m BM is Natasha. She is great to deal with and always returns my phone call whenever I have any questions.

I'm using Brett from Afterhours- I love them and trust them, and I thought their pricing was def reasonable

Well like I said for the ladies who signed with Mel, you dont have to deal with him again after you sign. I never did. Everytime I called they told me I could speak to ANY BM abuot questions or concerns and I did. They would get my contract and then answer my questions. So its not a matter of calling and specifically saying I dont want him to be my BM ya know? You dont do anything else with him. You do your appt a month before where you pick your cake and linens with someone else completely who handles that aspect of the planning THEN your final appt is with a Manager or higher up of some sort which is Felicia. I dont know that she does EVERY appt but from what I hear she does most. So you really NEVER deal with him again.
