how much did you tip the maitre d?
i just called to give my final count and they recommend that we tip $4 pp?
That is insane!!
We are already paying 18% gratuity!!

So my budget of $700 wasn't so off ... at 250 guests that's about $2.88 pp ...

It is insane and very frustrating! I thought tips were a bonus for service that exceeds expectation, not mandatory. I am not a cheap tipper but at some point, enough is enough

My friend got married at the Caryle a few years ago. One month before the wedding her BM told her the recommended gratuity above the 18% was $4,000 ... no warning, no clue - she was pissed!!!!

You're probably thinking about the seperate tip for the bridal attendent.

When you drop off your items at WM the week of the wedding, they will give you 2 envelopes to put the tips into. They suggest an amount but ultimately it's up to you to decide how much you will give.

See this is where it poses a problem for me. i will be the judge at the end of the night how my guests and I were treated at the reception and tip accordingly. I don't believe in a set amount. They are lucky they are getting anything in addition to the damn 18%.

Weddings are so expensive and quite honestly I think about just flying out to an island elope and throw a casual party upon my return. Save the thousands for a house! Who am I kidding? That would never happen LOL
