Westbury Manor Brides and MD Tip...

Original post by Soon2bMrsH

What were you told was your suggested tip for the MD and BA??

they told me that it was $4-$5 per adult for the MD and $50-$100 for the BA.

Im cool with the BA tip, but the MD tip seems pretty hefty. I read through some of the tipping threads and every hall is different, i know, and some halls are the $4-$5 range.
BUT i read from a WM bride that they told her $1-$2 per adult..... so i need clarification please!

thanks!

Westbury Manor told me 3-5 per per person for the MD and 5-0 $100 to the BA.

We ended up giving our BA $100 ( she was outstanding)
We gave the MD $400 ( for 63 people)

Our hall said between $5-7pp but we have heard from other people who had their weddings at the same hall they were told between $3-5. We have an amount in mind that we want to give but if the service sucks or if it is AMAZING we will adjust accordingly.

Some places ask for a lot and if you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Give what you deem appropriate for the service and for what you can afford. If you don't have $2k to give, you don't have it and there is nothing you can do about it. Don't stress.

I was told $3-$4 per person.... Seriously though, I think you should use your best judgement.... if they totally suck - then i say go on the lower end, if they rock - then hook it up!

Ahhhh just another expense to add to the never ending list LOLOL to think... i havent even STARTED yet!

I've posted this before but it seems fitting to do it once again...

. Let me tell you skeptics a little bit about what your Maitre'd is doing behind the scenes on the day of your wedding...
The MD is the one running the entire show, making sure the food is coming out ontime, talleying & submitting the dinner orders to the kitchen, fighting with the Chef because cousin Ernie has a stange dietary restriction so he cant have anything with vitamin A in it, managing all waitstaff to ensure their not in the backyard all night taking cigarette breaks, running around the place finding out where your Mother left her antique shawl, meeting with your dj, photo & video to ensure they are all on the same time line so theres no miscommunication and your party doesnt end up on YOU TUBE. Coordinating the line up for the introductions & ceremony (if on site.) - its sooo much fun trying to command the attention of close to 12 half drunk groomsman , in charge of setting up ALL those belongings you dropped off at the hall for them to set up, escpecially those wonderful homemade centerpieces that have 12 different components that require your maitre'd to come in 2 hours earlier to start setting up becuase you thought making the centerpieces yourself from scratch would be better than going to a florist, going from table to table asking each of your guests how their dinner was & if they need anything than running back & forth like a crazy person in order to get Great Aunt Marge some splenda. fighting with the chef because you want dinner served 10 minutes later than originally thought because Grandpas speech is running overtime, & finally fighting with your parents because 3 more meals were served & these need to be collected for but dear old Dad is 3 sheets to the wind & insistant that the completly accurate grid indicating how many beef, chicken fish were served is WRONG!!! & Finally after nearly 7 hours of running around like a crazy person to ensure your day was a success, they get handed an evelope with 200 dollars in it, when your party had 250 guests. Then to boot on message boards like this people post things like 'I never even saw my Maitre'd all night', well news flash: they were running around all night, & if you had seen them all night, IT MEANT THEY WERENT DOING THEIR JOB. Have a great Nigh Girls!!!

this sounds like a lot of work and definitely not an easy thing to manage.

however, do i think its worthy of $1k? absolutely not. not when im spending 30k at the hall already. just seems a bit excessive to me, thats all.
