Westbury Manor Brides! What florist are you using?
My fi and I are starting to look at florists, but have no clue as to where to begin. We will be looking at the florists WM recommends, but don't know if we are going to go with any of them. We are at a loss. Any advice is welcomed!

We booked Spitz and Peck ....
they offered us the best price and were very accomodating. When we went to Pedastels ... they were downright rude and unhelpful. We looked in Flowers by Brian ... a bit pricey. Then Spitz & Peck - we went to the Cedarhurst one and Gary helped us ... he gave me ideas and worked within our budgets. Plus they had the stands we wanted too. If you need any specific advice, email me at [email protected]! Good LUck

Westbury Manor Brides! What florist are you using?
We are using Pedestals. I met with Danny and he was wonderful! I told him about our budget(under 3k) and he worked around it. He seems very creative and knows what will work for the event and the bride. Good luck!!

Cira... re: Spitz & Peck
Hi! I am not a Westbury MAnor bride, Crest Hollow here... We booked Spitz & Peck, mainly for the quality of the flowers they have. But really, what I liked the best, and I know it sounds silly, was that when I was there, the first question I was asked was... What is your budget. When I told him, he didn't look at me funny or anything (we have a low flower budget of 2K) He said ok.. and tried to help me have what I wanted within my budget. I worked with Richard, the owner, over at the Huntington location. I highly recommend them. I felt truly comfortable there.

Sonicstef ... our buget is $2500 to $3000
Same as Kris - we went in there told him our budget (always say a little less ...so if you can afford 2500 - say 2000 - cause in the end you'll probably add something) and he worked with us. He said to get 40 roses instead of 50 and that cut our price. Honestly, now that I think we may need more tables (2) - I may do 36 roses ... I think 3 dozen with fillers would be beautiful. Then we told him how many attendants and mom and dad's (FH's family is extended) ... basically, they will work with whatever you tell them. When I went to Pedastels, they didn't ask my budget - threw these flowers in my face that I had no idea what the cost was and didn't work with me what so ever. They quoted us over $3500 and didn't even help us! Specifically: We are getting mid centerpieces (not high/not low) tree stand with 40 roses - about 18 tables. Flowers (roses - tied bow) for 5 girls and 6 guys plus 2 1/2 dads (one step dad) and ring boy, my bouquet, flowers for the cake, 3 mom corsages and grandma too, flower girl petals ( I think ... I need to check out my contract), a special corsage that I'm dedicating to my grandma - plus a rose drop overlay for our table. I think that's it - if you need more input ... let me know.

Sonicstef ... our buget is $2500 to $3000 - Also ...
we have no church to decorate - so I don't know how that works. Just check it out! Mention that you got recommended there by other brides who are using them - maybe they will be a bit nicer - it's always good passing recomendations. What happened to your hall anyway?

Sonicstef re: Spitz & Peck (Long)
Lets see... 12 low centerpieces, with 60 stems of roses, and stock filler. Low draping piece for my table, doubling as place card arrangement. My bouquet, MOH, 3BM, and 1 Junior BM, 3 corsages. 8 boutonnierres, floral arrangement for house, flowers on cake, tulling and bows for front of house (my mom wants) He quoted me 2370+ tax, but that is an estimate. As of right now, there are no other weddings at the church that day, so I will need flowers for church. I will need to get smaller centerpieces so I can bring us down closer to $2000. Plus, Crest hollow will give us $10 per table for using one of their vendors, which will be $120 if I have 12 tables. I walked in there, and the centerpiece they had on display was EXACTLY as thought I had designed it. I took that as a sign. I also thought he gave us a fair deal, and I just got a good vibe from him. His prices were comparable to other places we went, but I felt the most comfortable with him. Flowers by Brian, the guy was so bland. We felt he didn't care about us. Mormile was a little to specific. Basically each flower made the price go up or down. Here, the bouquet could be made of anything I want and it will be the same price. I thought Florissima was nice too, but it was kind of far from my house and a pain in the ass to get to. Hope this helps you. Good Luck!

Sonicstef ... my hall...
long story short... my hall made an agreement with the surrounding tenants (hall is mansion in residential area in Park Slope Brooklyn) that they would no longer allow music in the ballroom (the only room where a reception could be held). They also didn't bother mentioning it to me until I found out through someone else by accident! We are now looking at the Yale Club in NYC but they require us to use one of their recommended florists. Spitz is one of them along with a few others. Im afraid how much they are going to charge me!

Sonicstef ... my hall...
anytime you have to use a house vendor they are a fortune, especially if its going to be in nyc.most of the time if you give the hall a copy of the vendors insurance they allow to use anyone you want. good luck

Question about florist quotes...
We were quoted based on whether we were choosing high or low centerpieces and I basically told her I liked roses, callas, hydrangea, hate baby's breath, but no other real guidance- basically just told her mixed flowers for the centerpieces and I was quoted a price per centerpiece. I don't know how many flowers will be in there though. Also, she said if I used all roses it would be cheaper. When others receive quotes, do you normally have amounts of flowers as part of the price. As in 2 dozen roses or something?Welcome New Vendors
