Thanks everyone for all the input!!!
FH and I rented a zipcar and saw at least 8 places today. Exhausting but great day :)
We are winding down to 3-4 places.
Our reception ends at 6pm on a Saturday. So one of our must for a hotel is a lounge area with bar. Also shuttle service would be great.
Hyatt
-loved the bright modern decor. Loved the rooms
-has shuttle bus
-quoted us around 149 per night
-CON: really the only con is there lounge area is more like a cafe area. No bar. So we are still uncertain. But gosh I LOOOOVE the rooms
-Also no complimentary breakfast
La Quinta
They seem to have the whole package, but have read such bad reviews on them
-they quoted us 149 per night as well
-free complimentary breakfast
-their bridal suite is huge and pretty, like it's own apartment. enough for 6 people (AKA my whole wedding party for a sleepover. Quoted #249 for bridal suite.
-They have a lounge/bar area open late.
-CON: the place has some charm but really lacks in that modern 'decor kick'. Lounge area is really breakfast area..bunch of small little tables
Hilton Garden City
-Very pretty decor
-Loved their lounge/bar area. It's set aside so it has more intimate feel.
-Rooms are gorgeous (Hyatt still my favorite). Quoted $139 per night for our guest. BEST DEAL SO FAR
-Quoted $209 for bridal suite, good price.
-They also have free shuttle. But I've heard people having trouble with their shuttle. It's possible I might have more than 2 people per room. Does that mean they would have to pay extra to use the shuttle? That would be a major downside
-CON: no complimentary breakfast. Have to pay 11.95, but I could live with that
Garden City Hotel
What a nightmare. We arrived 15mn late and the lady wanted to bite our heads, despite our multiple apologies. She gave us a reallly quick run through of everything.
The rooms were $189!! By far the most pricey place we saw today. And frankly I don't see where they can charge all that. The carpet looks run down. The decor is soooo 80s. It must be maintenance fees
-Other CONs: No breakfast. No shuttle
We were so happy to leave. Haha!
Viana Hotel & Spa
Goooorgeous!!!!!! Like a real vacation hotel
-They quoted us $159 for blocked rooms. Not bad for a swanky hotel
-They have an awesome lounge/bar placed..open til 2am
-Spa services. With our busy grad school schedules, FH and I might not go on a honeymoon until we graduate in May

. So it would be cool to just hang the rest of the weekend here and leave Monday.
So here is our adventures in a nutshell.
**Felt really drawn to the Hyatt and their rooms, but unsure about their lounge area. (We don't expect a lot of people to hang out post wedding but it feels too 'hotel loungy/starbucks cafe-ish )
**La Quinta. I just really liked the vasteness of their bridal suite. But it feels too boring, too everyday hotel
**Hilton had a great price. Super organized. Out of all the vendors we saw today, the sales manager was the only one who emailed me tonight with all the plans we discussed about.
**Viana...still not sure if we want to charge our guest that much. And on top no shuttle, nothing complimentary. But I do see it as a hotel (just for us)
Hopefully this helps other brides figuring out hotels in the area.
Super undecided. So, any input is appreciated :)
