Westbury Manor question

Westbury Manor question

I recently went to the Westbury Manor to take a look at the facility and fell in love. The gardens are beautiful and the staff is so welcoming but i now have a huge dilemma. I am planning on having about 150 ppl at my wedding and the room i prefer is the manor room which i was told i would need a min of 185. i then took a look at the garden room (which is not my style) and was told that room is a max of 140. how is there such a large gap? Does this mean i cant have my wedding there, im so confused.

Re: Westbury Manor question

the minimum was always 185? even in the off season and different days of the week?

usually a day wedding has a smaller minimum than a night reception.

you can have less than the minimum, but you'd have to pay for 185 people.

good luck, and definitely look into different dates if it's your dream location!

Re: Westbury Manor question

I think the minimum varies for day and season.

When I went they told me the minimum for the manor room was 225 for a Sunday in the Fall.

Re: Westbury Manor question

The minimum varies depending on the day of the week and the time of the year. I am having a Sunday evening wedding in August and my minimum is 150. For a Saturday night I was told there was a min. of 225 for peak season and less for Jan. - March.

Re: Westbury Manor question

Thanks everyone. Although i do love the westbury manor i am not willing to pay for 40 extra people thats crazy.
I have been looking at some other places and second runner up is Leonards. But then i would have to find a place for pictures since i would not have the beautiful gardens .....

Re: Westbury Manor question

Originally I planned 2 get married at WM on Sunday, March 28, 2010 during th day and I was quoted a min guarantee of 140 ppl for the Manor Room.

We decided to downsize and move it up to November 7 this year during the day. Our Guarantee is now 80 in the Garden room.

I believe they quote according 2 season.(Low season Jan-March, high season April - Dec). So High Season and night weddings the prices Guarantees are usually higher.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions FM me.

Re: Westbury Manor question

we have a minimum guarantee for either 185 or 200, depending on price, for a Friday night next August. we went with the 200 minimum.

Re: Westbury Manor question

If you get married on a sunday you can guarantee 150 in the manor room - but that is probably in the off season.

That is the problem with WM - there is no in between room

Re: Westbury Manor question

When we booked the Saturday night minimum was 240 people! That was insane to us but we really wanted to stick with our date and with the Manor Room since we loved it so we are having a Saturday day wedding. The minimum for a Saturday afternoon is only 140. Something to think about if you don't want to give up WM.

Check out Majestic Gardens. They have beautiful gardens, are affordable, and are 1 wedding at a time.

Re: Westbury Manor question

Same here... we loved the Manor Room and weren't exactly big enough to meet the minimum. We were going to compromise and settle for a day wedding, but found our place and loved it as well. Keep looking until you are 100% sure.

Re: Westbury Manor question

We loved Westbury Manor as well but were quoted a minimum of 225 in the Manor room for June 2010. The garden room was minimum 100 but said they can fit up to 150 (which would be tight). We are having about 150 but felt that anything over 120 would be too tight. FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Westbury Manor question

Thanks, all this info is very helpful! I was also told i can have it on a thurs with a min of 140 in sept. but i feel kind of rude having my wedding on a thursday. Is that weird?
Ive been reading through some postings and heard about these lessings mansions. maybe I should check those out. Have any of you looked at those?

Re: Westbury Manor question

hi, we are most likely doing a Thursday night wedding at Westbury Manor. We thought it would be bad too but when we realized we could have our summer wedding with an outdoor cocktail hour (weather permitting) for the price of a late winter or early spring wedding and hopefully escape the snow/rain. We were also told the minimum was 140 for the manor room. We figured that people will have at least a year to plan for it and if they want to take off and have a long weekend they would have plenty of time to request time off from work. People love an excuse for taking a long weekend especially over the summer. We ran it by our friends who would have to work on Friday after the wedding and they all said to go for it. They would rather a Thursday night wedding than a Sunday night one. It's easier to muddle through a Friday than it would be Monday and go through the whole week. Hope this helps!!!

Re: Westbury Manor question

Did you try bargaining? The we got out minimum down by 30 people but ended up paying $3 more a head. (But maybe we had leverage because we are repeat clients.)

We we're basically like 'Look, with tax and everything minus tips our budget is this... Make it happen!'
We had to wait until the next day to get a call back that it was approved!
