western nassau girls ????

Original post by GiannisWifey

wait, is that right? I mean the girls who live by Rockville CEntre, New Hyde Park, etc.......

before I punch my computer, can you pleaseeee tell me what towns/areas are by the end of the belt parkway? Like Lynbrook, etc???

this house hunting can reaaaaaaaaaaaaally drive someone crazy!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to look at rockville centre, although FH doesn't want to come out 'that' far, so we are looking a tiny bit closer to BK as well, although no Queens.....

thanks!

What if you take a random address in each of your top towns and mapquest it so you can at least see which town is the closest. I dont know just an idea!! Because all of your top towns are good ones!! I live in Franklin Square and love and would love to buy a house here!!

I live right off of sunrise highway and broadway. Towards Hewlett :)

You know what you have to do Haroula? You have to do a test run to see how the commute would be. Like from point a to point b and see if its a headache.

FH commutes every morning at 7 (when its super heavy) and he travels every where, but he feels like is centrally located to everything, so the commute could be a lot worse...

I travel from Lynbrook to Port Washington everyday, my am commute is 30 min, and my pm commute is 45 min. I literally go North to SOuth...I just avoid highways and take side streets...

I'm in RVC - right off sunrise! So close!!

I go to the Lucille ROberts there!!!! And I love the fantasy movie theater and the Thai place and Chat Noir and haagan diaz!! lol

i LOVE THE THAI PLACE!

spoke to FH......we are going to do lunch one day and just drive around areas that we like and feel are close to what we need........he said prob franklin square or RVC or Lynbrook or any surounding towns....don't want to go all the way to Carle Place or Merrick, a bit too east for us!

let the hunt begin!

RVC is very nice, FH and I are always eating at International Delight Cafe on Sunrise.

Exit 20 on the SSP is Baldwin and Baldwin Harbor, which I'm surprised wasn't mentioned yet. It borders Oceanside the further south you go (south of Merrick).

My FH works in Port Washington and he complains about the commute,..he goes further out east toward the Meadowbrook and back tracks toward the Northern State..Coming back it can take 45 min to an hour depending on when he leaves (his official work day ends at 3:30 pm)..
I always joke to him how I'd like to move there - I just love that area.

i live in franklin square... there are neighborhoods that are great and those that are not as great - just be mindful of that when you're looking around. of course, JMO.

FH has to travel to great neck and he does the same thing. Back track to meadowbrook to go west on LIE. I'd love to move to Port Washington or Roslyn. When we sell our apt and move to a house in a few yrs we are going to look there (amongst other towns)

GINA RANDY - Thank you so much for the FM!! We wont be living together until we are married but DEF let me know if it is still available for next summer........we plan on continuing our house search through the spring and summer and if we don't find anything by July/August, we will start looking for an apartment to get all our stuff in and be ready for us after the wedding!!!!!!!!!

Re: western nassau girls ????

FH and I bought a house in Oceanside a few months ago and so far we love it! We are still getting to know the area but there are a lot of stores/restuarants/bars etc (I live a few blocks off Merrick, very close to RVC) and from what the neighbors say the school here are very good. The taxes are very high tho...

It takes me about 10 minutes to get from my house to the Southern State and it's only a few mins to the belt. I work in Brooklyn (Borough Park) and the commute can be rough but actually the worst part is how long it takes once I'm off the belt and in bklyn (my job isn't right off the belt and taking the streets takes forever). The traffic on the belt is hit or miss so I always leave early just in case. Also I work nights so my commute is backwards- I'm going towards the city at night and back to long island in the morning.

Good luck with your house hunt!!!

what exit is rockville centre its my favorite place!!!!! hes from BK and im from Plainview so we want to be kind of in the middle but on long island.....

carle place is nice, but kind of far...

can you get to rockville centre from the belt?

RVC, exit 17S or 19S off the SS and then you gotta drive through malverne to get to it.

FH and I are gonna look at Co-ops and apts there too.

RVC is exit 19S or 20 S. You do not have to go through malverne if you use those exits. If you get off at 17S then you do have to go through Malverne. Exit 20 you go through Baldwin

I need friends in RVC - move here! Our there are apts in our co-op that are having open houses all the time!!!

I'm in RVC too and I LOVE IT. There are so many bars, restaurants, it's so close to the city -- what co-ops are you in?? you'll have to FM me because my co-ops have been having tons of open houses, too!

I grew up in Lynbrook and I would still feel comfortable buying a home there. Home prices are better there than in RVC. But then again, it depends what you're looking for -- house, co-op. But I'd say RVC is like 1000000000000000000 times more fun than Lynbrook.

Yayy represent. I am from East Rockaway which is in between Rockville Centre and Valley Stream. The taxes in RVC are crazy high so keep that in mind. Lynbrook is a really nice town, and so is Oceanside and parts of Malverne. Not gonna lie, East Rockaway is kinda ghetto lol. It is a safe and quant town, but there is nothing to do and the school isn't the best.

thats anotherrrrrr thing - we have to keep the schools in mind.....what school district does Lynbrook belong to>??

Lynbrook i think is Lynbrook School District (i may be wrong, I'll check with FH). HOWEVER, its an excellent school district. Malverne HS I heard has changed a whole lot so I would avoid it, but Lynbrook hs is great! My nephews graduated from there. Lynbrook has an elementary, middle and hs, all located within 'walking' distance together ( I think the elementery school(s) are slightly separated). Plus lynbrook has its own police department, so its pretty safe...

My sister is a teacher in Lynbrook! What's nice about the SD is that it's SMALL. You know everyone, if that's something you like. Hi Chanty!!!
