wait, is that right? I mean the girls who live by Rockville CEntre, New Hyde Park, etc.......
before I punch my computer, can you pleaseeee tell me what towns/areas are by the end of the belt parkway? Like Lynbrook, etc???
this house hunting can reaaaaaaaaaaaaally drive someone crazy!!!!!!!!!!
We are going to look at rockville centre, although FH doesn't want to come out 'that' far, so we are looking a tiny bit closer to BK as well, although no Queens.....
thanks!

what exit is rockville centre its my favorite place!!!!! hes from BK and im from Plainview so we want to be kind of in the middle but on long island.....
carle place is nice, but kind of far...
can you get to rockville centre from the belt?
RVC, exit 17S or 19S off the SS and then you gotta drive through malverne to get to it.
FH and I are gonna look at Co-ops and apts there too.
see thats the problem....we want to be in a nice area kind of like in the 20's of the belt or the low low teens of the southern state.....
RVC, Lynbrook, Malverne, Franklin Square are all off the southern state low teens. In fact, Franklin square exit I think 16 or 15 is like the central point for me as far as exit, since I use it when I either go to Stewart Manor or Lynbrook. Check out those locations...

Yayy represent. I am from East Rockaway which is in between Rockville Centre and Valley Stream. The taxes in RVC are crazy high so keep that in mind. Lynbrook is a really nice town, and so is Oceanside and parts of Malverne. Not gonna lie, East Rockaway is kinda ghetto lol. It is a safe and quant town, but there is nothing to do and the school isn't the best.
thats anotherrrrrr thing - we have to keep the schools in mind.....what school district does Lynbrook belong to>??
Lynbrook has its own school district. They have good schools! Def. above average. RVC, Lynbrook, and Oceanside have a good school system IMO.

Re: western nassau girls ????
Lynbrook has it's own SD. At one time, it was actually one of the best in the country.
BUT.......I'd be cautious. Valley Stream and Malverne have kind of taken a turn for the worse, and Lynbrook is on it's way.
I grew up in VS and went to VS public schools and would never send my kids there now. FH grew up in Lynbrook and went to Lynbrook public schools and said he would never send his kids there.
I wouldn't go any further west than RVC. And even in RVC, make sure you're in the RVC SD, NOT Lakeview or Malverne.

Lynbrook i think is Lynbrook School District (i may be wrong, I'll check with FH). HOWEVER, its an excellent school district. Malverne HS I heard has changed a whole lot so I would avoid it, but Lynbrook hs is great! My nephews graduated from there. Lynbrook has an elementary, middle and hs, all located within 'walking' distance together ( I think the elementery school(s) are slightly separated). Plus lynbrook has its own police department, so its pretty safe...

Re: western nassau girls ????
sorry to crash! But I grew up in Lynbrook, my parents still live there. Lynbrook has its own school district and its great. I went through there K-12. Valley Stream, Hewlett, Oceanside, Malverne, Floral Park are also close by. The little village of Lynbrook is really cute with shops. And its only 25 min train ride to Penn with 2 train stations to choose from, if that matters. Taxes are a little high, but not as high as RVC. FM me if you have any questions!
ETA: I've heard the schools are still OK in Lynbrook, not as great as they used to be. The south side of town is much better than the north side these days, says my mother who works in a school on the north side!

Oceanside is a little further from the belt... it takes a little bit of travel on side roads to get to the parkway. Also, I think some of the middle/elementary schools aren't the greatest but the high school is a good school. The Latin Kings gang apparently goes to the high school and like paints their symbol on the high school (FMIL works at Oceanside high) but regardless, it is a really good school that gets a lot of funding or whatever is needed to make a public school good.

Look, come visit one day. We can shop and eat in RVC, or maybe we'll all meet up with our FH's in RVC so you can get a feel for it. Trust me Lynbrook, Oceanside, RVC and Franklin Square are good choices. I think you will like RVC bc its really a great location. Lynbrook is nice too.

sandra, I may take you up on your offer....
this is so hard being that he has to travel back and forth to Bensonhurst every day, if he didn't, this would be so SO much easier!!!
I have to keep him in mind during commuting time.....in the morning, he will leave at 6, so the morning its not a problem. It is on the way home that I feel bad for him. WHen he comes here now, it sometims takes him an hour and a half in traffic when he leaves at 530-6ish......
I just dont want him to be miserable every day meanwhile, im only a 10 minute commute....
so im trying to figure, if itakes him about an hour/hour and a half to get to plainview which is 28 on the SSP, if we live in these towns where you can get off the end of belt or fist few exits of SSP, it should almost cut that time in half??? So thats why I really don't want to go past like 15-16 on the SSP.....dont want him in miserable traffic evvvvvvvery night.....he will come home a grouch!!!!!
ugh, this compromising BS stinks!!!

I live right off of sunrise highway and broadway. Towards Hewlett :)
You know what you have to do Haroula? You have to do a test run to see how the commute would be. Like from point a to point b and see if its a headache.
FH commutes every morning at 7 (when its super heavy) and he travels every where, but he feels like is centrally located to everything, so the commute could be a lot worse...
I travel from Lynbrook to Port Washington everyday, my am commute is 30 min, and my pm commute is 45 min. I literally go North to SOuth...I just avoid highways and take side streets...

I know!!! RVC and Plainview are about 30-40 min apart. All you need to do with RVC is take Merrick or sunrise all the way done to get to the belt...I think... you can avoid all the traffic with side streets..
When Joe and I go to the city, we drive in and it typically takes us 30 min without traffic. To get to New Rochelle its 35 min believe it or not. Train its 25-30 min to manhattan.

yeah it seems that i have to have him one night, while coming out to my house during the weekday, have him reset his odometer and check the time he leaves bk until he hits like the end of the belt/beg of ssp and see how long it takes him to get there.........thats the only way I guess we can determine

5 towns? Right next to Rockville Centre and Lynbrook.
Valley Stream..Franklin Sqaure
these are off the belt???
Franklin Square is off the southern State (thats where I live)
Valley Stream I belive i both off the belt and SS (but could be wrong)
5 towns is well its not really close to any parkway ...but you can take the belt or vanwky to get in the area.
