for those who addressed their envelopes and printed invitations with a home ink jet printer, did you use any spray to make them 'smudge proof'?
any tips? what products should i look into?
thanks!

Shouldn't you just be able to wait a few minutes until they dry?

Re: wet envelopes and ink
We got the transparent (but not shiny) clear labels and covered the type... They were barely visible on our textured ivory envelopes, and kept th addresses safe!

Re: wet envelopes and ink
Art supply stores sell a fixative spray - that might work.

Re: wet envelopes and ink
I printed my envelopes on my inkjet printer and I actually tested them out to see if the ink would smudge or run. I sprinkled water all over the text and even when I rubbed the lettering it didn't smudge. I put way more water on the envelope than they would ever get if they were exposed to the rain. I think laser printing might run though.
edited to add: I didn't spray them with anything.

I think you would only really have a problem if you did calligraphy or something like that!
