What a crappy weekend (vent)
I hate wasting money, who doesn’t? But I REALLY needed a winter coat. So here’s how the weekend went.
Sat Morn: Wake up early (which I hate) and get ready to go meet the pastor for the wedding. But first we wanted lunch. Hop outside to take Jim’s car because it has a GPS and we won’t get lost.
Car won’t start. It just WON’T turn over.
Hop out and get into my car cause we have stuff to do.. I’m FREEZING. My car acts up a bit with the speedometer skipping because the baby is cold. Go to Vincent’s for mussels and for the first time ever, we weren’t thrilled with them. Usually they are our favorites.
Hrm.. maybe it’s a sign from God? Head off to Queens to the see the pastor. Find the place and go inside.. did I mention I was cold. I’m told we arrived just after a funeral ceremony. Lovely! Do our thing there and head out.
Off we go to the grocery store, where we realize we forgot to deposit a check and now have to use our ATM card to buy groceries, but NOT the one were we get miles.
I’m so pissy at this point I go home. We still need to get me a coat, figure out the car, get gas and deposit the check.
Sunday morning… wake up early AGAIN! Getting really tired of this. Have some breakfast and head out. Car still won’t start. Check cables and fluids, try to jump the car and rule out the idea of us messing with the spark plugs. We review all the warrant info and head out. Stop off at Hyundai and ask questions and decide we’ll have to use the roadside assistance program. We stop by the bank and then off we go for a jacket.
Burlington Coat Factory. Man, I forgot what it’s like to be in that place. Find only ONE coat I like but it’s too long and would have to be tailored. I’m kicking myself in the butt for not buying the $300 coat 3 months ago that I found at Nordstroms. Jim decides to go back to Nordstoms, why not. So off we go. Find “THE” jacket. OMG expensive. $400 FOR A JACKET!!!! But it’s really warm and long and covers me right. So reluctantly I bought it. Still feeling sick about that today!!!
Get back home and call up Hyundai. They come out and tow away Jim’s car. Now mind you I said to do this when we got home, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO what do I know? Jim put it off and it was nearly 7:30pm before we call for the service. Right in the middle of Alias they arrive.
Now I did ask more than once “Do you need anything from the car?” Nope nothing.. I’m good, no no no.. stop asking. Fine. Well of course he forgot the scraper and the deicer and tells me this morning like I should have known to ask him to pull it out of the car.
Still forgot to drop off our film and now I have no idea what’s going to happen this Friday when he has to work extra late. Normally I’d just take my car out and run errands to go to B&N. Now with only one car .. who knows? And more importantly how much IS this repair going to cost. I say this because I feel it’s got to be one of the following: Spark plugs/wires/distributor cap, timing belt. None of that is covered by the warranty because he’s DUE for the 30,000 mile tuneup this month!
What a weekend. I just hate when they go this poorly.
The highlight is when talking about ethnic beliefs and religions the pastor asked a question I refused to answer: What will your children be? My answer…. “Ours” He meant no offense and didn't ask for more. Jim just giggled. I wasn't in the mood for that.
Thanks for letting me vent
