What a mess.....

What a mess.....

I took two of my girls tonight to try on some bridesmaid dresses.... no one could agree!

The problem is that half of the girls in my bridal party are 'heavy set' and the other half are thin. Everything that I asked them to try on, I was told that it might not look good on the 'heavy set' girls. Please tell me what kind of dress I can choose for heavy set girls???? I want to make everyone happy, but it looks like someone always has something to say.

Empire waist dresses tend to look good on most people.

This is empire waisted. See how the band is set high above the waist?

I am a plus size girl and empire waist is the WORST for me...I say check with Princess/A-Line Dresses....maybe something with short sleeves or if you do sleeveles,, maybe witha a wrap,...or try out the 2 piece dresses...impression bridal has a lot of 2 pieces, and one is sure to flatter every girl...maybe you can pick out the color and skrit and let them pick out the top, there is a way to please all, beleive itor not

Why dont you pick a color and fabric and let them pick the dress that flatters them.

Please dont be like a bride I know who kicked someone out of her BP for being plus sized.

No, I would never kick someone out!, but I want them all to wear the same dress. Am I being difficult? I'm soo lost right now, I have no idea what to chose.

Thats good to know you would never do that.

There are dresses out there. the A-line is nice..wrap optional. You may have to look harder since the different dress choices are non-negotiable but I am sure you will find one style that works.

Look into two piece sets, that is what I want to do.

IMO-go with an a-line dress. They are the most flattering on all body types. If you go to a really good dress salon, they are experienced in suggesting dresses that will flatter all your BM's figures. I only have three BMs so I was able to take them at the same time and we picked the dress out that day (I had taken my sister-MOH- prior to that day to narrow the selection down). I don't know how large your BP is but if you can't get them all to go together, maybe take 2 thinner girls and 2 larger girls and have them try on the dresses at the same time.

try Emme dresses. they are for sizes 2 to I think 28. I had the same issues and they flattered everyone in my BP. They have a website too.

Being someone who is a former plus size woman, I know it was much harder for me to feel comfortable in some style dresses. I HATED my arms (still do too) and always, always always had to have them covered. It might be tough to have everyone agree on a dress. I attended a wedding recently where every girl had on a different dress except the exact same color and only slightly variations to the dress. I could try and find out the designer they went with, but the couple is on their honeymoon so I might not be able to for a few more days.

Unforunately, no matter how hard you try, if you want everyone to wear the same dress, there is always going to be a BM who doesn't like the dress (even if they never say it to your face). It's impossible to pick out a dress that looks good on everyone unless everyone in you BP is a model. I picked out the dress that I liked the best (with spaghetti straps at the request of the girls with no chest) and made sure it had a wrap. I told the girls that they are free to wear, or not wear the wrap- however they feel most comfortable. good luck!

My girls range in size from 2-18 and we found a dress that everyone likes. It's a Belsoie A =line dress. They all say they feel like a princess in it. It also has inverted pleats to camaflage bigger bottoms.

I brought my girls to David's Bridal becuase they carry all sizes in the store and everyone could try on their dress to see how it looked. No surprises... and they were all happy with their choice.

I would go with a drop waist or one that kind of sweeps to the side in the middle... hard to describe but it is really flattering. If I can find a picture I will attach it.

One of my bridesmaids suggested a dress that has gathering pulling to the side. Most likely my girls will be in a two piece from impressions that has this side gathering. I will try and find a pic.

Here's one option. This is the top and you can order it with straps.

I think this is the one my girls liked. It's not a good pic of it.
