Girl, this is a very sour subject with me. I feel that the state and government is not helping us the least bit. The complain that all our young couples are moving out of NY but that we need them to work to stabalize our local economy. But these houses out here are ridiculous. Find a house in the $200K area is like finding a needle in a haystack. What are couples to do? To answer your question, it will take us a couple of years just to save up for a decent downpayment for a house on the island.

Most houses today are on the market for am onth or less it seems.

We started looking because we want to be in a house by the end of summer.

We're definitely looking!!!!! At this moment not actively but looking. Once married we will get into gear and look full time.

i feel your situation ... we are probally leaving NY for a little while... going to Tampa, FL to a house that cost 150-200k custom built for us... then returning in a few years (5 to 10) when NY decides to get it's act together
