I have to say, I really loved the 'With love from 08ers' post that the 2008 brides wrote to us last December.
Of course we will do that for 10ers!! That was one of my all time favorite posts on LIW..
But in the meantime.............

I would say to any future brides and to myself 19 months ago that keep a plan and budget...I really kick myself for not keeping up with it...I didnt do too bad but still and also listen to your gut feelings its about your and Fh's day and nobody elses so even though people may stress you forget about them and please yourself.

Dont go crazy with all these 'extras' that you have seen on LIW ...most of the stuff is not necessary but it does make an extra nice touch!
Make sure to have down time with just you and your new hubby right after you get married...just you two..NO BODY else...even if its for 5 minutes.
Enjoy EVERY minute of planning your wedding, whether it was SUPER stressful or enjoyable..once that time clicker says like 3 days ...it GOES SUPER FAST!
i will add more to this later!

Re: What advice would you give the 2010 brides?
I have 2 pieces of advice:
1) Get your booty in shape now! Don't wait until you get the 'hello your dress is in' call to start dieting and working out. There's no day like today. Your going to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on photos that will be impossible to re-do. Whatever your fitness/shape goals are, START TODAY!!
2) Know that what you post on LIW is PUBLIC. Be very careful when you write a review on a friend's wedding. Back in January I wrote all about one of my BFF's weddings on here, a great review, but wrote 1 'not so great' sentence, and the vendor I wrote about told her that someone bashed her wedding on LIW. She was devastated and no matter how I tried to rectiy the situation the damage was done. Looking back I'm like 'why did I take this site so seriously that I felt the need to dissect my dear friend's wedding?' Everything is great with us now, but I will always regret that post.
HTH ladies!

I would have to say to try to take everything in stride. You're not going to be able to control everything, no matter how hard you try, as much as we would like to believe that everyone is as excited as we are about our weddings, the reality is that they have their own lives and their own worries and lastly that as much as we feel certain things are a HUGE deal when planning a wedding, the reality is that in real life, they're really no big deal and it's better to pick your battles than to lose friends, alienate family and be a Bridezilla.
ENJOY planning, don't make it a chore or more stressful than it needs to be!

Re: What advice would you give the 2010 brides?
1. Stay within your budget. 2. Dont let family and friends tell you what to do or who to invite 3. If you have the money hire a DOC 4. Buy the little things in advance (menus, Place card holders, RB pillow and FG basket) if you wait all the little things acumulate together with all the final payments 5. I know the wedding is a special day but is only one day, it doesn't matter how much or how little you spend that is not going to predit how good or bad your marriage is going to be. Remember you are marring the person you love the rest is just a party. 6. Also if you have the money now to pay off one of the vendors just pay for it less thing to worry about 2 month or 2 weeks before the wedding

Don't rush and get things so quickly because sooner or later your going to regret your choices.
I rushed and bought my DOJ then i totally regretted it and wanted to buy an entire new set and had to waste more money than needed to.

Don't overestimate how many OOT guests will come. Even some of your best friends will say they are coming for a whole year but then for whatever reason not be able to make it. My biggest regret is not making our guest list a little bigger to account for the regrets.

Definitely take the time to enjoy your engagement. I made sure I hunted down every kind of 'fiance' card I could find - Valentine's Day, Birthday, Christmas, etc. I figured it was the only time in my life I was going to be able to give a card like that and the only time FH would receive one.
I'm sure I'll have many more things to add as I get closer to my date!

Take your time to research your vendors and dont feel like you have to jump in and get everything done immediately

1) spreadsheets!!! Keep track of everything, contact info, costs, everything. The list grows fast and it's nice having one sheet to go to and see everything.
2)Don't sweat the small stuff. Things will go wrong...big or small, along the way. Let things roll off you no matter how hard it might be, sometimes its better to bite your tongue then make things worse.
3)Enjoy every single second of the wedding, it will FLY by. I never ever belived when people told me this but the day of it was all true before I knew it we were dancing our last dance and saying goodbye to our guests.

I love all of these, but this one totally stood out for me - I've been doing this ever since we got engaged...FH thinks I'm a little weird for it, until I pointed out to him that this is such a short amount of time where we're each other's fiances - we had 4+ years of being 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' and the rest of our lives to be 'husband' and 'wife'. Love this!

Re: What advice would you give the 2010 brides?
1. Dont stress about the weather. The farmers almanac will NOT predict the weather the day of your wedding.
2. Do not take any crap from anyone. Do it your way. If you hurt someones feelings? too bad! Do not let ANYONE bully you into inviting more people, not dropping a bridesmaid, doing something YOU dont want.
3. Research wording for invitations. The most common 'mistake' is people putting 'Honor of your presance' when a ceremony is not at a house of worship. That wording is traditonally ONLY for a ceremony at a house of worship. (This does not mean it cant be done and its wrong if you have done it)
4. Call your RH and ask them who THEY reccomend for a hotel, THEN ask LIW what we think of the choices.
5. MAKE YOUR HOTEL BLOCK 10 MONTHS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!! My Hotel is sold out for the evening of my wedding and thats 3 months away from today.
6. Dont wait to buy the BM's dresses. I thought late June would be fine for shopping for BM dresses. NOPE. I had to pay for a rush order so they would come in by September. YIKES!
7. Stay right on top of thank you cards! The moment I got engagement/shower gifts the TY was in the mail the next day...except the shower. It obviously took a few days to get those out.
8. Dont go over your budget. Its NOT worth it to have this big huge wedding and go into debt over it. Its just not.
9. If you invite someone assume they are a yes. I knew I could take 1 person off the list because they live in Israel. But I had a maybe list.....dont assume people arent coming.
10. KNow things will go wrong and be ok with it. You will be so crazy that its not 'perfect' that you wont enjoy the wedding.
11. Make sure you bring your birth controll on the HM, unles you are trying to get preggers then. I consulted with my OB/GYN because I will be getting my period the week im away on the HM. She told me to continue my pills. But I pulled out a callandar and knew so I was prepared NOW. I have to order my medicine 3 months at a time and ndidnt want to scramble a week before for medice im taking to europe.
12. If you are flying for the HM. pack a chancge of cloths on your carry on, pack ALL expensive electronics (camera, camcorder) in your carry on and ALWAYS pack all your medication on your carry on.
13. If flying outside the country make a copy of the main page of your passport. Keep it in a separate place other than your carry on/passport. Also have a copy at home with family incase you loose it. A photcopy will go a LONG way to expidite you home!!!
