WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? (long)

to preface: we sent out engagement announcements to all of the people who we will be inviting to the wedding but cannot for space and $$ issues have at our engagement party.

so last night fh's aunt tells me that my friend julia's mom was so taken aback and did not understand why we would send an announcement and how could we not invite her daughter...we are not even inviting this woman who we see maybe once a year at the restaurant she owns!! basically she said she thought the invitation fell out of the envelope but when fh's aunt explained it to her she thought it was so rude to send an announcement...

huh?

i sent my friend an email basically telling her i sent her an announcement not to be rude but to include her because i love her!

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE???

I feel like there is always a freaking issue

I don't think you did anything wrong!! Explain it exactly as you posted, that due to $$ and space you can't have the whole wedding guest list at the e-party. If it's just a small intimate affair with close family and the BP then your friend should understand your reasoning. Make sure your friend knows that you didn't send the announcement with the expectation of receiving gifts from those not invited to the e-party. You just wanted to let them know they're going to be invited to the wedding.

People love to jump up on their high horses. don't pay any attention. you will never please everyone, because some people will go out of THEIR way to ensure that they are not pleased...they WANT to judge you to make themselves feel better...don't sweat it Chloe.

I dont think that you did anything wrong at all~ My cousin and his wife send out announcements to everyone and had about 25 people over there house for a little get together .....people need to understand how things are now at days ....and they need to think before they speak!

Take a deep breath - No matter what you do with your whole wedding there is always going to be someone that says something ..... you make you and your FH happy and thats number 1!

i just got the mail and there was an adorable card from my friend whose mom said all of that- i haven't heard from her today but i am hoping it is just her mom- fmil says she is just angry and b*%chy and to ignore it

i wish people would just keep their comments to themselves- everyone except you girls
