I do want to go public, but I'd appreciate truthful response and advice. My FH and I had a huge fight last night over the phone and I told him it's over. What happended was, He redialed my number last night (did not know it) and I heard voices of him and friends out. I jumped to conclusions because he never thought to mention to me he was going out. I don't care if he does, but tell, me. It's when he doesn't that I wonder why and I let my insecurity get the best of my imagination last night. Well I got sooooo mad. During the fight he told me yesturday he spent $600. (money has been tight for him lately and he made a promise to me that he would not spend his own money towards a business venture.) But, the $600 went towards it. He has yet to contribute to the weddings, he has an party he is paying for, he owns me money, & has bills. I was so hurt that he lied and he knows hho I am working and saving and cutting our budget where I can and now he does this. I've told him before I am handleing the money because he can't, and he does this anyway.
I was wronge in jumping to conclusions about him being out, and now I am so hurt that I found out he spend money that could have been saved towards wedding or house.
How can I marry him if he still does not treat me as a partner in business and decisions and finances.
I am so confused and hurting and have no where to turn or go. Thank you all for listening!

Re: What am I to do...
While I understand where you're coming from about insecurities getting the best of you, I think to call it off at this point, especially in the heat of the moment, is a bit rash. #1: YES, the money issue needs to be worked out. I don't know how long you've been dealing with this but it took me some time to get my FH to cut his spending (started at $100 on a night out w/the boys! I don't think so). But impulse spending is not going to stop immediately. I see you picked a date but did you put any deposits down? If it were me and FH was still spending $$$$ on things not related to paying off bills or saving for the wedding, I would stop saving myself and tell him that when he was serious about wanting to get married and plan a wedding, to let me know. Tell him ou're in no rush to get married and you're not going to pick up HIS debt and start a life with it. Also, the lying and keeping stuff from you is serious. If you are 100% honest with him all the time, you do not deserve to be lied to. The hurt that lies cause is long lasting. If this is normal for him, I would question his ability to take a relationship seriously right now, and whether or not you want to accept this behavior.
Make your decision carefully and base it on his character and pattern of behavior. People make mistakes, some learn from them and some don't. Good luck with sorting this all out!

As far as the money issue is concerned, I think it is very hard for people to break patterns, especially with money. By you saving all the money, and him not contributing, you're only enabling him to act that way. I think you need to find out how seriously he wants to take this marriage at this point in time. If he is serious about starting a new business venture, maybe he hides it from you becasue he is afraid of what you'll say about it. Also, maybe he rather try this business venture BEFORE you're married so that if it doesn't work out, it reflects more on him than on you. I think you need to find out what his goals are and see if they match up to what your's are. Then you can start working towards a common one, rather than both having separate ideas of where you'd like to go next. Good luck!

Re: What am I to do...
I guess I should talk to him. He knows he has a problem financing his money. and he said he felt guilt spending it on the business and was going to tell me when he saw me, not on the phone. I told him that still does not make it right. The business is something we are dong together and he wants me to help, but then he makes decisions without me. I am so confused and don't know what to do. I do have a date, and all my deposits are spent. I have to keep saving money or else we will never save enough between the 2 of us. I split the budget in half (I save half, he half). So I need to still save for mine.
I love him and I know he loves me but these issues are serious I feel to a marriage.

Re: What am I to do...
They ARE very serious issues to a marriage. It's definitely a process getting your man to tell you everything, even the stuff you're not going to like. You have to make it 'safe' for him, ie: not screaming and name-calling. He has to agree to face you and your wrath when he wants to do something you won't agree with, but to tell you BEFORE he does it. Reason being, there is usually a compromise. If he had told you about the plan for the $600, it would be strictly a money issue. Now we have an issue of him doing something behind your back. Okay he was going to tell you, but AFTER the fact. Once you get him telling you ahead of time, it's okay to say that you don't think it's a good idea, but women can't tell men that they CAN'T do something. That's when they hide it from us. But really, it's a good idea to ask him how HE forsees the wedding fund becoming more than an idea or something you are doing on your own. Does he want to just be engaged for a while? That's another thought. He proposed so he's obviously in love with you. Maybe you want to ask him if he wants to slow down the plans.
It sounds like you've calmed down a bit which is good. But I think the issues really require a sit-down convo tonight to see if you're both on the same page. Don't give up hope yet!

Yes, I have calmed down alot and I guess my next approach is to talk about how he did not come to me first and discuss. he has said he will DEFINETLY put into the wedding account and of course knows that.
I think what hurts was about 2 weeks ago he made a promise that he would not spend money on the business until he makes money. But did it anyway.

first of all - i am so sorry that you are going through this and my thoughts are with you! this must be incredibly difficult to go through. secondly - you two need to sit down and takl this out. explain to him what you explained to us - tell him that's it's not just the wedding you'r concerned with - but your life together. if he's lying to you now about spending money - what will happen down the road. you can always postpone the wedding...save up some more money with no pressure and then go ahead with it. the wedding should not be your main concern now - your relationship should be. work on that and then you can turn back to the wedding. if you need anything at all - please know that we're all here for you. and i'm sure each one of us knows, at least a little bit, what you're going through! good luck!

Calling off a wedding is a big thing I would talk to him more, do you know for sure he lied to you, has he lied before? b/c that is a serious thing and honesty in a marriage is important. You do not want him to lie about money and then other things.
I would also talk to a priest or rabbi, someone neutral, sometimes they give very wise counsel on premarital matters

Re: What am I to do...
I feel he lied to me because he promised he would not spend his own money. But then he did. An decided to without me. It's not lke it was 45, it was $600. again it was upsetting because I am saving and he is not in the place to be spending

I think you need to sit down and talk to him. You have to make sure that you are both always up front with each other about everything. Explain to him why you are so upset so that this doesn't happen again in the future. Good luck.

No matter what people say that money doesnt matter its not true, i think its the number one reasons for problems in relationships. i would definitly settle tis before the wedding but agree with some of the others that calling it off now is a bit hasty.
