What are other BRIDES (esp. JT brides) doing?

CAKE STANDS

Jericho Terrace doesnt provide a cake stand and I went to the bakery (Dortoni's) and they don't use them OR rent them. They recommended The Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale...but I called and they don't rent them either.

I need a 22' square silver one.... should I buy (they are expensive.... $170 I will probably NEvER use it again....I can sell it on ebay.... what should i do?

Any suggestions?

who is doing the cake for you? what bakery is the cake coming from maybe the bakery could provide it.... the RH really does not have a cake stand???

i have never heard of this....

Dortoni's in Levittown. I went there today and spoke with them. They do not use cake stands. They recommended another place...called them... they dont use them either.

ok this is probably a stupid question...but if JT doesnt have a cake stand what do they put the cake on? and what exactley are you talking about when you say cake stand?

I had no idea i needed to even think about this...

JT uses Dortonis , and they dont provide a stand. alot of previous brides simply decorate the table with petals and small votive's w/o a stand. I dont think a stand is necessary. It looks nice but theones that do have it in their pictures ended up buying them themselves.

Yeah, I know some rent them. But Dortonis can do the regular base with silver, white or gold foil. I think they look nice without a silver base too.

from what ive seen most ppl are using JT's cake

yeah I am using JT's cake most likely....FH isnt a big cake person so he thought it was silly to spend extra money on a different bakerys cake when it comes in the price of JT...

but I am also not worrying about a cake stand. i will just decorate the table with votives and prob flower petals or something

same thoughts exactley......we are not big cake eaters and since we are having the VH i dont think its necessary to get a better cake from a bakery......we'll just decorate the table like you said.....

I love Dortoni's. They are awesome. I'm really surprised they don't use them. Have you tried to find one on EBay? Maybe someone was once in the same situation as you are in and now they are selling theirs. Either way your wedding cake is going to be delicious!!!!

a cake stand is also called a cake plateau. i just want the cake to be on an ornate stand raised off the table. I dont mean to sound silly...but i just really like when the cakes are on stands.... i will try to find a pic! thanks for your input. I might just buy one...then sell it on ebay!

I haven't researched this through my location but although the stands are beautiful I don't think they are necessary with decoration around the cake
