What kind of shoes? Sandals? Dressy shoes?
8th street has a lot of shoe stores. Barney's has cool shoes, but a bit pricey.

34th street is also a good place.
If for a wedding, I would recommend checking out things by Kenneth Cole, they have the styles on line and some stores carry them.

Bloomies has a pretty big shoe department as does Saks, but it all depends on what price range you are in and what kind of shoes you are on the hunt for.
