One of my friend's baby shower is at the end of August. Of course I will be up to my eyeballs in wedding stuff at that point, lol but I want to do something special for her. SHe is the first friend of mine to have a baby! Any ideas?

Today at my friend's shower, they had a fun game where they measured her around her belly with string & everyone had to cut a piece of string, to see if we could guess how big she was, we then held our string next to the one they made of her size -me & 2 others matched it exact & won a prize.

Heres more:

The Baby-Food Taste Test

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Playing time: 20-30 minutes

Players: All present

What you'll need
fifteen jars of baby food (no blends) with labels removed. (Write the content information on a piece of masking tape and place it on the bottom of each jar.)

plastic spoons

a blindfold

Before the party
Purchase baby food and prepare the jars. Try to pick a variety of baby food flavors, such as peaches, bananas, green beans, and squash. Stick with stage one or two foods.

At the party

Gather your objects. Be sure they are interesting shapes, but recognizable household items.

Arrange a tray with 10 of the items. Have guests sit where all can see the tray.

Set the timer for two minutes. Guests have that time to look at and try to memorize the items. No talking or note-taking allowed!

List on your poster board -- in clear letters -- the names of 20 adult animals.

At the party
Seat guests so they can easily see the poster board. Distribute paper and pencils.

Venus and Mars

For some baby showers, the traditional games just won't do -- for example, if your shower is coed or your mom-to-be just isn't into the baby-themed games. For this kind of party, feel free to pick more generic party games. Try Venus and Mars, and the ones that follow here, Family Night at the Movies and Who Am I?

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Playing time: 20-30 minutes

Players: All present

What you'll need
index cards

pens

At the party
Divide the players into two teams, men vs. women.

Send each team into a separate room or on opposite ends of a big space.

Give each team index cards and a pen and have them come up with gender-based questions designed to stump the other team. The women might ask: What's a bobbin? What is Martha Stewart's area of expertise? How much does a newborn weigh? The men might ask: What's the role of the carburetor? Who played in the first Super Bowl? What does RAM stand for?

After the cards are finished, place them in two piles in the center of the room. Each team member will stand and take a card from the opposite team's pile and try to answer the questions. Teams get one point for each correct answer. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

I have more if you want, FM me

I just want to caution that not all women like the measure me game. I would not enjoy that at all. I told my sister, and both my mothers that if they do that to me, we will play Guess their Weight right afterwards. I don't find that game very amusing. So if someone is sensative about their weight, it might not be a super great game.
I think the baby food game is fun for everyone. And I also saw a game where you are blind folded and have to try to diaper a baby doll (cloth diaper). whoever does it quicker wins a prize.
and there is always shower bingo.

I think a womans pregnant stomach (where they measured my friend) is the most beautiful, special gift one can have.

I see nothing wrong with one being 'big' in the belly. There are so many women who are proud of their stomach, and women who are infertile, who wish they could be pregnant to play this game at all.

I can see being self conscious about weight, but about your pregnant stomach?

I must have alot to learn I guess.

Oh jenn you’d be surprised! It’s very easy to separate the pregnant belly and the pregnant body when you are an onlooker….but when you’re in there it feels a LOT different! Don’t get me wrong…I am the first to show my nice hard preggo pouch that I am so proud of! But not as quick to want somebody to feel the love handles hanging over the back of my pants!

You do gain a little …or a lot…everywhere. Places the baby has NO PART IN! I mean – if I could say – oh…that’s just my baby in my a*s*s then – MEASURE AWAY! Until the baby grows in the belly, hips, butt and thighs…I think the measuring tape can be left at home!!!!
