not so much weird, but unexpected, friends of ours chipped in and got us a kitchenaid. my mom was pissed though because she's always wanted to get me one.

My dad's student (he tutors doctoral candidates) gave me a brown paper lunch bag filled with old-school ponty-tail holders and baby hair clips, and a pair of used glasses.

Which she came back for because she 'forgot' she put them in the bag.

And she is an otherwise pretty normal woman of 35.

my whole family...every single person..(Except parents/sister) showed up late and didnt bring ANYTHING

very embarrassing...especially because everyone in FH's fam brought us something...what ****** most is the FMIL noticed..i think she hates us now...

whaaaaaaaaat!??!?!

so what mine was a gift basket a la 99ç Great with a package of glow sticks, monkey/mermaid plastic drink charms that the arms and tails are seriously all broken, balloonies (the weird hazardous toy where you have a straw and blow up this plastic goo to make a balloon), 2 slap on beer cozies (think slap bracelets), 1 magnet for the fridge that is a clip, and i just found a mini post it pad. hmmm was it extra sh!t out of the junk draw that was thrown in here? well some stuff still actually had the 99ç price tag left on it.

i seriously would be embarrassed to give a person that....along with a box of snakes or a used hubcap. there is absolutely no underlying joke to this gift or anything for that matter. i've known this person 2 years now and have actually bought them nice gifts in the past.

at this point, i honestly know $$ is NOT an issue for them, but i would've at least bought a $5 bottle of wine..b/c you know what? i would DRINK it and it's more personal! i am not a wine snob or anything like that...but hey, as the saying goes, what goes around comes around.


oh and to top it all off, they actually had the odacity to complain to me that i had no hamburgers left (meanwhile i have 60 still sitting in the freezer right now.) i'm sorry but don't complain to the host/hostess when you are a guest...go complain to 1 of my friends or something. i think that is down right rude.

i just can't wait till they have a bbq this summer

A old fashioned stove popcorn maker...not on our registry... that when we went to return it couldn't because the popcorn inside expired in 2006.

Me too

I had two winners at my e-party. One was a six pack of beer, to which we just laughed it off because FH's friend didn't realize that an engagement party wasn't that kind of party. And the other was from one of FH's groomsmen, he got us flowers and put them in a nice vase but without water! sitting in the sun throughout the entire party, along with a gag gift that is now in our bathroom that went along with a joke FH used to tell when they were in first grade. When someone used to go to the restroom he'd say 'mention my name, you'll get a good seat' har har...well, alex found a small statue of a guy on a toilet with that quote under it and gave us that as well......charming
