picked up a long the way/ have learned while planing your wedding?
So far, for me it was the less information some people know the better. And I would of waited before picking my bridal party but, I guess its a lesson learned..

That not everyone will be excited for you as much as you are & there are people that will become your enemies along the way of planning your wedding....but your wedding is your own vision (and FH, if he goes along with what you want ) But just to make your day your own and whoever is not rolling with you F em!!!

- wait to choose your bridal party - no one cares as much as you do about the wedding - look at he big picture..yes the small things details make a difference, but dont drive yourself bananas over them because those little details go easily forgotten - people will be jealous and snide...ignore their remarks and judgements..they arent true! - go with your gut on your vendors. and if you book early and you start to doubt your decision...remember there was a reason you picked them in the first place - do not let your relationship with your FH go on the back burner for wedding planning...he is the reason you are planning anyway! - dont put yourself in debt...but dont deprive yourself of what you really want either

i agree with people wont be as excited for you as you might expect and definately not as much as you are. i kinda expected this going in and it definately was the case.
also when you book vendors and are excited to book the 'extras', just wait until the end to decide if you still want them and especially if you can fit them into your budget- once you book the vendor, you have them and your date so you want lose your chance to add on. this wouldve elimated a lot of money stress if i woulda thought about it before.
dont talk about the wedding to ANYONE you areent 300% sure that you are inviting.
BIGGEST advice. order rsvps with 2 different rsvp dates. i was gonna do this and then thought it was silly but now i really wish i would have. have the first rsvp date, 2 months before your wedding and the second date, 1 month before. this way you can send out to the a list and then get them all back and know your final count before sending any others out and you dont have to deal with people thinking its weird cuz they only have like a week to answer.
DO NOT rush into picking vendors, your dress, rh, etc.
get everything in writing and ask for maximum completion dates with things like photography and video.
use email when communicationg with vendors if possible if you cant see them in person...that way youll have everything in writing
when considering your budget and things you want to do, think about how much it will impact your day, how much and how long it will be used for/seen.
negotiate (even on things you think you cant)
check out all the rooms at your rh, not just the one they show you based on your minimum
go with a lower minum rather than a higher one (even if you think youll definately have 100 people for example, still only guarantee say, 85 cuz you never know and it could save you A LOT of money in the end
even if you are SURE that your wedding party wont have disagreements, they WILL. its a weird thing for all these girls who many times dont know each other to be planning things together and you, as the bride who is the common link is out of the loop of everything and cant be a buffer so things will absolutely get weird at some point.
hth
GOOD question!

Re: What are somethings you...
-don't ask people to be in your bridal party just because you feel obligated
-don't rush into booking things. do your research and compare quotes
-DO NOT settle on a dress. if you are having any doubts then keep looking. i also suggest not getting your dress too early because newer and better stuff is always coming out.
-don't let your family's wants and needs be more important then yours. it is YOUR wedding
-be prepared for some of your friendships to potentially suffer because some people tend to assume you are 'obsessed' with your wedding
-all the little extras are great but at the end of the day your guests are probably not going to recall the fact that you had personalized napkins or that you spent hours slaving over your diy menus. things like 'bride' hoodies, parasols, etc are great but can be an unnecessary expense considering you will most likely use them for this one day. but if they are in the budget then go for it!
-don't be afraid to negotiate
-make sure you get a contract/get everything in writing
-chances are you will go over your budget
-do not forget to factor in tips or the fact that you need to feed your vendors (also do not forget to include yourself in your guest list)
-only send out save the dates to people you are 100% sure you are inviting. also, you most likely don't need as many std's as you will invitations. (i ended up with 50+ left over)
-personally, i also recommend going shopping for wedding things by yourself sometimes. it helps to not have other people's opinions overpowering your own. i felt much more confident with my decisions when i did this.
i'm sure there are more things but these seem to be standing out the most to me. hth!
