I am registering on Sunday but have been looking online so I have an idea what I want and the pots are confusing me. What does All Clad mean? Should we be getting stainless steel or something else? TIA

I got a 10 piece calphalon set and LOVE it. I cook and bake all the time and I have no complaints.

Re: What are the best kind of pots?
i could be wrong but i think all-clad means that they can't go in the dishwasher
i have the stainless steel set by emeril and i love them, except my next set i will make sure the handles have rubber grips on them, b/c they get very hot otherwise

Speak to someone in the pot area., they are very knowledgeable....
Make sure they are dishwasher safe if you are planning on having a dishwasher.., usually non-stick are not.
There are many downsides to non-stick.

All Clad are really good pots. But I think they are all 100 % stainless steel, the food might stick . Teflon doesnt stick but teflon causes cancer if it starts to peel, everything in this world does

Be very careful with non-stick and calphalon pots and pans. Over time, the non-stick surfaces chip away from the metal and can wind up in your food. Stainless steel pots are the safest and most durable ones.

that is true I had caplhalon pots and after a while they are wear & tear I registered for the Emeril Lagasse Stainless Steel Pots. Stainless steel is pretty durable.

Re: What are the best kind of pots?
I use stainless (whatever brand, heavy with riveted handles) You can go with all clad or calphlon or even another brand just check the quality. Stainless are very durable to begin with.
You dont need calphalon or all clad to have good ones, but i know all clad is lifetime guaranteed.
But you have to cook at the right temp for them to not stick. Thats why they are better with a gas stove- better heat control.
They are really easy to clean.
I have stainless, but registered for a small non stick frying pan for eggs, just because. I cook eggs in the stainless and its perfectly fine but hey if someone else is buying it for me off my regstry- why not- haha
Sometimes if they arent the good ones- the non stick will eventually start to peel.

This is very true, I tried to make chicken cutlets in the stainless all clad frying pan, and it didnt work. All the breading just stuck to the fry pan.
My suggestion, is Buy a Teflon coated Fry Pan, but be careful with it, at first sign of even a scratch throw it out, use only silcone Spatulas, and try to replace them every year or so. Cheap Teflon Fry pans are only around 20 or 30 bucks wich, is not expensive to purchase every year, when your health is at stake

I'm very uncomfortable with your hipocrasy, even though I know you're going to fry some porpoise in your new pots.
