What are the guests throwing?

After the ceremony, what are your guests going to be throwing at you and your groom?

I'm still trying to decide. I always thought raw rice was dangerous for wild birds, but after some research I have come to learn that that may only be a false rumor since they supposedly eat it all the time in the wild. But i'm still not sure.

So i guess maybe Rice is an option. I was also thinking flower pedals, but I don't really know how far that can be thrown. I feel like it'll just flop to the ground where they stand and not even make it toward me and FH. And then there's the idea of bubbles, but depending on the wind, that could go wrong too. Plus I'm nervous about getting soap on my dress. lol.

So what's everybody thinking?? I'm just curious of your ideas.

I recently went to a wedding where we threw lavender. It was really pretty. And smelled great!!

Here's the catch- I asked the bride afterwards if it got in her hair. She said it was totally in her hair, down her dress, in her shoe, everywhere!!!

I don't think the soap from the bubbles would show up on my dress. BUt, its definitely a risk.

My guests blew bubbles The bubbles never make it as far as your dress so don't worry!!
It all goes by so fast, anything you choose will be fine. I hardly remember the bubbles to be honest, although I know there were bubbles blown at us!

oh crap..... good point.

I am planning on having everything throw confetti streamers. I don't really like small confetti because it makes a mess and can get EVERYWHERE. So they will be throwing streamers.

The best part is, they make 5' long streamers that stay attached to you hand when you release. So if your place charges you a clean-up fee, it will be no problem.

church wont allow things that need cleaning up afterwards. I originally purchased bubbles but they dont work so easilty and Fh hates the idea...lol So..i just ordered personalized wedding wands that i found from another liw brides review page. they looked great in the pics and that is really the effect i wanted with the 'throwing' part...something to look nice in pics. i dont want anything THROWn at me to get stuck in my hair and dress....especially seed considering my crazy fear of birds....

The bridal party and a few others will throw rose petals and everyone else will have bubbles....I just love the look of rose petals, so I figure if those that are close to me (in vicinity) throw them, it will be perfect!

ooh thanks for this! My church does not let anything be thrown either and bubbles i am afraid will be a problem w/ the dress...

I am going to ask my church again what we're allowed. If they allow the 'wedding rice' as someone mentioned, then we'll do that. If not, then we'll do bubbles.

It just stinks. Everything my parents had 27 years ago, my church isn't even allowing. No aisle runner.... and my flower girl can't throw petals unless someone cleans it up. Oh well... it's not what the day is about anyway.

((sigh))..we were supposed to have rose petals but if u recall the hurricane weather at our wedding, we never got to! lol. I also know of a winter bride who had fake snow! looked awesome in the photos!(although like everything else, if was in her hair, down her dress, etc. lol).

Yup, i remember the crazy weather we had at your wedding! lol. I'm wondering if I can even have anything either, considering that it's gonna be FREEZING out probably. I like the fake snow idea though!!!

I made my ribbon wands. It was fairly easy. We bought lollipop sticks (the large ones for roses and stuff) ribbon and tack nails.

We cut the ribbon to 18 inches folded the ends, stuck the tack thru and hot glued in into the hole on the lolli stick.

It was time consuming. We made 70 and it took about 3 1/2 hours but they came out nice....IMO
