Since we've been talking about the baby on the way, John Anthony might get jealous of the attention going elsewhere So I'll share a few of his latest accomplishments with you all...
*For the past month or so, he has been 'cruising' (walking while holding on) and the past few weeks, more than ever. He stands wherever he can grab on and darts around in little steps, faster than we are ready for!. *He tries to let go and stands there doing a balancing act for a few split seconds with his hands in the air...funny to see! *Tonite, mommy chopped up (really really tiny!) spaghetti and meatballs... So we're trying to have less and less of Gerber jars when we can... and introduce more and more table foods... *SOUNDS SOUNDS - he is constantly babbling and saying new sounds lately.. DEE DEE DAA DAA NAY NAY NEE NEE MA DAA DAA. Just the way he says the sounds, sounds so different than the way he said them months ago. Does that make sense to any of you, or is it just me?? Its like theres more meaning, more oomph to how he babbles
*Does the funniest things with his mouth - almost like he's about to blow bubbles with his saliva, just does that sound with his lips..hard to explain...
I think that's it for now Children are amazing. Every day something new, and every thing is so precious to watch and enjoy with them!
Mommies, please share some stories and accomplishments !!!!!!!
ETA: CLaud, please share the story of what a good helper Paul was at Mother Goose Rhyme Time

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
Anna, this is so funny b/c I was just thinking about a new milestone post this afternoon! YAY for JA's new accomplishments....he's got to give his new sibling something to look up to, right?
Paul no longer walks....he RUNS...everywhere! I am constantly chasing after him and asking him to 'go slower!' WHO am I KIDDING, really?
He has mastered his sippy cup and now wants to drink everything from a regular cup.
He's spouting new words everyday and using hand jestures to express himself...so far: Up, Down, Elmo, Red, Hi, Hey, Dad, Mom, juice, cheese, hot, dog, yum, etc...the list grows all the time!
He's trying to master walking up the stairs on his feet, rather than crawling on his knees
He understands EVERYTHING - his comprehension blows me away...if I say we have to put your socks and shoes on, he'll run and grab his socks and shoes and sit and try to put them on his feet!
He waves good-bye and holds up an index finger when you ask 'how old is Paul?'
He is totally amazing...I'm so proud of his accomplishments!

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
Oh, okay....today at Mother Goose Rhyme time, they kids were singing a nursery rhyme about a black hen (I don't know which one it was). Anyway, the moderator had a basked full of colorful plastic eggs and she was making the kids count them as she took them out of the basket and placed them on this easel. Well, Paul and another little girl stood up and each took a couple of eggs out of the basket and placed them on the easel - AND then got to put them back in the basket.
But, the cutest part was the SMILE -> on little Paul's face when it was finished! He was so proud of himself, it was the cutest thing!!

and after he put the egg on the easel, lined up near the other eggs, as everyone in the room counted along, he turned around and had this PROUD little grin for mommy !

Too cute! Claud, I cant believe how big Paul sounds, I cant believe Luke will do that stuff in a few months either. And big brother, JA sounds great. It's nice to hear how he's doing with him & Lukie being so close in age.
Anna, you know you dont need to ask twice for us Mommy's to talk about our kids! You know that!!
Anyone have an hour to listen...LOL!!
Luke will be 10 months next week. He's 30 1/2 inches tall and 22 lbs. He's got these legs that never stop moving. 99% of the time when he's awake, the legs are going. Daddy's a soccer player and so are his uncles so there are already plans for him
He crawls really fast and cruises the furniture (and moving boxes) like a madman. He also climbs stairs and can hoist himself over the 16 inch high moving boxes. Occasionally he will let go of things but he's not really trying to walk on his own yet. All in good time!
He sings 'EIEIO' from Old MacDonald and says 'Dad'. No Mama yet although I try to encourage it. He's a real Daddy's boy. Other than that, babbling away. He likes to hear himself, I'm convinced. He's usually loudest during Jeopardy. I've had a cough for a few days and he will imitate my coughing, the little stinker!
I was in the car with him the other day and I pulled over to make a phone call and all of a sudden I hear him laughing in the backseat. I had pulled over near a house where the sidewalk was being broken up. The worker kept lifting a huge mallet over his head for leverage and I guess Luke found this funny. He cracks up at stuff all the time.
Eating lots of stuff. I still give him the cereal & jarred fruit/veg because I'm never sure how much nutrition he's getting otherwise but he gets lots of tastes of other stuff. I let him try some Ranch dressing tonight, the other day it was eggplant parm and yesterday he had roast beef, potatoes and carrots at my Moms house.
All in all, he's doing great. Starting to think about planning the first birthday party.

Liz - Lukie sounds SO BIG too! Wow...he's in a hurry, isn't he?
Paul is a total Daddy's boy too....since Jeff works from a home office, Paul will climb the stairs while shouting up, 'Dad! Dad! Dad!' It is totally adorable.
Then sometimes he'll just casually walk into Jeff's office and lift up his arms in kind of a shrug and go, 'Hey, Dad!' I swear to God, Jeff and I nearly pee our pants sometimes...he's SO FUNNY!

I can totally picture him doing the non-chalant Hey Dad. Real casual cool. LOL!! I bet he's REALLY surprising you every single day with his mannerisms. I guess you really can start to see how they pick up stuff from you or DH.
Whatever the baby does, Derek & I look and each other and laugh and smile with that 'look at him!' look on our faces. In that way that only parents of their very own very special child can - you know, how everything is amazing and worthy of oohs and aahs. I love it!
ETA: I always get choked up when I think about how we do that. Every child that is born deserves the same specialness, I really wish it was the case for each baby born. To be loved like we all obviously love our children.

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
All of our kiddies are getting SO BIG!!!!
Emma is talking up a STORM. She repeats EVERYTHING we say. she 'counts' from 1,2,3,5. She will show you 1 & 5 with her hands. She says A,B,C,D. The new things she says are Tad, baby tad, ok, i know, i do, outside, pool, hot, tomato, shoes, toe, up mommy... there are so many more I cant even get into it right now. She knows when she is going down stairs to take my hand. She knows where her teeth, eyes, nose, ears, belly, belly button (which she presses and says 'beep') and toes. She knows when I grab my purse that we are going bye bye.
Just recently, you know when you want someone to come to you you use your pointer finger and motion to come, Emma has begun to do that. Its funny to see her coordination.
Im taking her for swimming lessions starting Aug. 27th.
Anna - I love to hear what JA has been up to. Growing like a big boy... but from your news, we know what you've been up to too

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
WOW! all the kiddies sound SOOO grown up! Julianne is 7 months old...still not really sitting up on her own though ...daycare props her up too during the day and assures me whe will do it when she is ready..likes to be propped up in our bed on a big pillow and play with daddy... Bubbe just bought her an excersaucer (2nd hand) and she loves going int here. Rob & I bought some newer toys to put on there. LOVES to babble and 'sing'. dadadaneenee babablalala...and I THINK I heard mamma one day. (I keep repeating it all the time). When we burp her, she pats our arm as well! flips over and around in her crib- never in the same position..
moves toys, breadsticks from hand to hand..tries to pick up cheerios..
still on jar food. I tried making pureed carrots and I think I made it a bit toooo chunky. will have to try again. she eats regular rice once in a while, pudding, applesauce, I would like to try more regular foods...any advice???
her last dr appt was over a month ago ( goes again in sept) at that time she was 14 lbs and 26inches...so 95% percentile for height and 50% for weight (I think) ....we have had to take our the graco snugride and replace it with a convertable car seat for my car...our Eurovan Camper has the Britax Roundabout
thats all I can think of now...oh and I love love love when she is sleepy- she rubs her eyes and plunks her head down on my shoulder, sighs and eventually s.u.c.ks her thumb! yay! she finally realizes - most of the time- it is OK to go to sleep when you are tired (instead of fighting it)

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
Hi Ladies! Thanks for the updates. This gives me a glance a what I need to prepare for in the coming months. Annalise will be 8 months old on Thursday. For the last two weeks I have been walking like a hunchback. All she wants to do is walk around holding one finger on each of my hands. She has gotten so fast too! She can stand holding the furniture, but is not really cruising yet. She only takes 1 or 2 steps along it before falling on her rear. I guess she will walk before crawling. She eats well. I give her solids 3x day. She self feeds with wagon wheels, biter biscuits and zwiebac toast. BF'ing is becoming a nightmare because she pops off every few seconds to check out her surroundings. I think she may self-wean before a year. I hope to continue at least the morning and one evening feeding. She does not attach meaning to any words yet as far as I can tell. She says dada, baba, and NO.

I love reading about all the LIW kiddies!!! I can't wait to start rattling off my Bear Cub's accomplishments! It always amazes me when they start talking, how they come up with the right thing to say at the right time!!

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
This is great!
Lyndsey will be 4 months old in two days. Time is really flying by! She weighs about 17 lbs and is about 27 inches long...gulp. She is HUGE, off the charts for both height and weight. My back is constantly hurting from carrying her!! She has already outgrown her Grace Snugride carseat!
She is always 'talking', saying things like 'ah-goo' and 'cooooooooo' and screaming in a high pitched voice. She has also started laughing at the most random things....such as daddy burping. Ew!
She is still BFing, but I have started to give her rice cereal once a day...and boy does she enjoy it!!
She rolled over three times so far and can hold her head up great. She always wants to sit or stand on our laps...she HATES being held like a baby. She can sit with support. She is sooooo active and a very happy baby!

Melissa, I chuckled when you wrote 'hates being held like a babY' because John Anthony is the SAME about that !!! when someone tries to hold him in their arms to make him fall asleep or something im like 'uhmm he hates that ' he's always hated that put him on his belly and he is in his glory.

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
Ryan is exactly 3 months old today! Can't believe it myself!!
At his last doctor visit (about 3 weeks ago), he weighed 15 lbs!! 95%tile for weight!! He is a biiig boy! I bet he's closing in on 18 lbs...he's almost out of the SnugRide - still fitting, just cozy enough and loving it!
He is eating about 32 oz. of formula a day.
He holds his head up straight for long periods of time and can roll from his belly to his back if he tries hard enough. He can sit up pretty well with support.
He is cooing and babbling like crazy! LOVES to hear the sound of his own voice - screaming and yelling and making the best sounds -- pure music to Mommy and Daddy's ears! He cracks us up!! He smiles all the time!!
He has just started really reaching for and grabbing things that interest him...he almost pulled a bowl off the kitchen table while sitting in my lap!
He is the greatest gift my husband and I could have received. He is truly a blessing and a miracle and I cherish every single moment with him -- I can't wait to have all the beautiful milestones you are all enjoying with your older ones! How lucky are we?!?!

Re: What are the LIW Kiddies up to ???
VERY lucky Lee!!!!! Melissa... shes adoreable!! I too agree with your statement on how your child doesnt like being held 'like a baby'.... I still havent figured out how old he is ...LOL.. listen a second... Alexzander (with a Z) is 23 weeks old, but if you go by calendar days, hes only 5 months old... Soo confusing! Whats the proper age?
Ok... for his accomplishments... He was born a biiig baby... 10lbs, 5oz... Hes been on cereal since he was six weeks old, Dr.'s orders.. we started him on jar foods not too far after that...He started sleeping through the night about then too...He rolls over...since he was about three and a half months (about15wks old)...
We have been bringing him in the pool since fathers day.. HE LOVES it and even kicks his feet! He creeps, rather than crawls, He looks like an inch worm... He works his feet up till they're standing and his butt is straight in the air, pushes his chest onto his elbows and wiggles a little then drop to teh floor! Its adoreable! He loves to stand!!!!! We stand him looking over the back of the couch out the window.. he thinks hes the king of the world!!! He also stands on the carpet holding onto the couch.. usually for about a minute or two and then gets so excited, he pushes himself back! He can sit sometimes, without assistance, but he keeps trying to stand. So we put him in the walker and he cruises all over the kitchen. He loves his step and play piano.. (alternative to excersaucer)... He loves the lights and the sounds, and the fact that he can turn and run back and forth.. He grabs EVERYTHING he can get his hands on and puts it in his mouth. He too pulled a bowl right off of the counter, while I was holding him. He has such a GRIP too!!!
Its wild, just sitting and playing with him.. Brian and I are fascinated with the little things he does... Its such big accomplishments for him and hes very vocal about letting us know hes excited. O... He recently started raising his hands at the same time and bringing them down and like smacking his thighs when hes really excited and letting out this screach of joy!
Babies are really awesome gifts. And they are so incredible... Who would have ever thought you could love something soooo much and every day it could grow even stronger, deeper and more!!!!! Wow.. I am amazed!
