they are porcelain covers almost that go over your teeth.. they costs anywhere from 500-100 per tooth.

I am guessing that is considered cosmetic and not covered by insurance?

nope not covered it is cosmetic I paid 850 per tooth.

yep.. not covered.. I have them too.. but I got them done in 96.. so you may want to price it out if you are interested..

Fh wants to whitten his teeth for the big day and he needs a professional. He will never remember to put that crest white strips on. Any cheaper way to get whiter teeth than veneers? what are the other alternatives? How much is bleaching?

You can get professional bleaching at your dentist for 300-500 for the whole procedure and it works REALLY well!

why would he get veneers to whiten his teeth?

tell him to get britesmile or try any of the ones out there right now (professionally, I mean) I got mine whitened and I loved the results..and I even still have the kit to do touch ups.

The veneers question was just my curiosity. Are any of the procedures painfull? How long does it usually take? All dentists can do it? How much is a whitening?

Veneers can be a costly and time consuming procedure depending on what you need to have done. However you will have a perfect smile in the end, so it depends how much that is worth to you.

My sister had to good fortune to be a guniea pig for one of the top cosmetic dentists in the country. He has been on Extreme Makeover and has worked on the the teeth of some of the most famous stars in the world. I can't remember his name but he is in Manhattan. Anyway, she was chosen as a project case by this dentist for the NYU School of Dentistry and had hundreds of dentists from around the country watch her have her teeth worked on for 2 days straight. The work being done to her was televised throughout the conference and also taped for teaching purposes later on. She had to have a lot of prework done in the months beforehand also. And her teeth weren't bad!!!!

If she had had to pay, the whole thing would have cost around $25,000!!!!!! . She got it done for free. It is a fairly involved procedure, so unless you have the time and money I would opt for whitening.

This depends on teh dentist! My friend has them and I dont think the dentist did a good job, her smile although straight and nice, it looks odd! Her teeth look too thick and fake because of the veneers!
