This week I'm craving Salami & Provelone sandwiches. I don't usually eat it & I'm trying so hard to be good, but sometimes you just have to give in!
I haven't really been enjoying chicken as much as I used to, & I definitely can't COOK it! but so many things taste different to me now! Even the pizza I love from our fav. place tastes so SPICY that I can't eat it ... or much of it anyway
not PG...but I do know that since we (and your baby) need salt for survival...PG women often crave salty foods

Re: What are you CRAVING .... or AVOIDING???? :)
Isn't that funny! I never thought of it that way. but lately I've been in the mood for chips, and I've never been a big chip eater ... I'm more of a sweet eater. I'm trying not to indulge too often, but I've definitely noticed a difference!
I think the statistic is that infants can taste salt after one or two hours of being born...then one week later...sweets

You know it is funny that you mention a food being too spicy. I HATE very spicy foods. I had Scott make soft tacos (with ground turkey) one night for dinner- he is trying to learn a few dinners to help out- and I felt awful because I couldn't eat them. They were soooo spicy, but pre-baby I could eat them fine.

Although I didn't eat any until half way through my pregnancy, I craved turkey sandwiches a lot later. I made sure to get a quality brand and ate it while fresh. YUMMY!

Michelle ... that started right away ... I don't even remember if I knew I was pg yet. We were having lunch in a Chinese rest. & ordered my Favorite ... Sesame Chicken. They also serve it spicy. Well, when it came to the table, it was SO SPICY that I couldn't eat it! I was ready to send it back thinking it was the spicy version. I was ready to scream at the waiter & Vinnie was like ... what's wrong w/you, its fine ... the same as usual! But I was so upset ... it was burning my whole mouth. He thought I was NUTS!
It's amazing what your body goes through while you're PG!

I haven't really had any 'cravings' -- well I take that back. One night I was in the mood for a napolean and poor Joe was in the pastry shop for 20 minutes walking back and forth because they were out of napoleans and he didn't know what to get me!!!! I was in the car outside watching him and beeping the horn, but he was so stressed, he didn't hear it, nor did he think of coming out and asking me!!! He was so sweaty and stressed when he came out, I didn't know whether to hug him or laugh!!!
I did tell Joe that the first thing he better bring me when he visits me in the hospital is a tunafish sandwich on whole wheat toast from the diner!!! I'm dying for that!!! That and Chinese Food (my dr told me to stay away because of the salt content).
But no 'weird, typical pregnancy late night cravings' so far! I think Joe is the one having those sympathy cravings!!!

I crave bagels with cream cheese morning, noon and night. I try to limit myself to every other day.
Christine, I can't do chicken either.

I can't eat ice cream anymore At about 5 weeks i had a taste and ran to the bathroom to vomit!!!! I love cake and red meat!!!! Give me a steak or hamburger and I am fine I also can't stand french fries anymore the smell of them along with chicken cooking sends me to the bathroom
On the cream cheese theme I love cream cheese with bacon and dipping pretzels in CC

Meats really haven't been agreeing with me, especially chicken. I feel so bad for my poor hubby he make these great big meals and sometimes I just can't eat. One night I had to leave the table . But it's getting better now, I can at least eat a small portion of it now.
As for cravings nothing too weird. Last week a smell reminded me of chocolate chip cookies and that sent me craving them...so I bought a batch of the pre-made cookie dough and cooked them up the other night. YUMMY

LOL!!!!!!! Pg cravings were so different from regular cravings. When I craved something pregnant, I wanted it IMMEDIATELY. There were a few days of tuna melts (normally NO WAY!) and another time where I went through Carvel shakes-half vanilla/half chocolate - I thought I invented a new flavor shake. LOL, um..no...DH said they're called 'black & white shakes' - mmmmm! One funny craving was one night out of the blue I wanted a matzoh broken in half with a slice of swiss cheese in the middle. It had to be egg & onion matzoh too. I ate it like a sandwich. There were a few more but those are the ones that come to mind. None of the cravings hung on for months or even weeks, they just came and went. 2 night before Luke was born I made a huge casserole of rice pudding with a custard top. I ate that thing for breakfast lunch and dinner till it was gone - it took about 4 meals, I think. I tried making it again about a month or so ago and it didn't appeal to me in the least.
