I wanted to know what brides ARE ACTUALLY DOING . Thank you!
For example: I am NOT: Making baskets for out-of-towners, nor for the bathroom. OR making STD cards. No bubbles, no disposable camera, etc. No Candy Buffet...No custom Isle runner, no 'bride/groom' sweater/hats/etc. stuff. No Ice carving, no renting of linens, Keeping guest list to under 125 (hope total count is 75-100), Possible no limos (Ceremony at RH)...haven't decidied, no 'formal bridal party' just my fiance's kids walk, no program menus, no cry packs, no 'we do' letters, no Unity Candle.
I AM DOING DIY Custom projects: Invites, Card Chest, Ring Pillow, Sign-in book w/pen, Cake Topper, Table CP, Favors, Bride & Groom toasting glasses, table numbers, place cards, cake servers

We are NOT doing:
Favors at all of any kind Ceremony programs Video Save the Date cards Cry packs, bathroom baskets 'We Do' or 'Love' letters Candy buffet, chocolate fountain, Viennese hour, ice sculptures, vodka bars, a specialty drink Jordan almonds Table numbers or menus not provided by our RH Isle runner unless not provided by church or limo No specialty linens, chair covers, etc. Unity Candle Garter / Garter Toss Toasting Flutes and Cake Cutter not provided by our RH Children at ceremony & reception Cake topper (maybe) Slipper / Slipper basket, pashminas disposable cameras engagement or boudoire photos paying for outdoor photo location
We ARE doing:
Bubbles OOT Bags - not elaborate, very simple Invitations - maybe DIY, not sure Floral centerpieces Card box Limo bus - entire bridal party + us DJ Photographer Seating scrolls not individual cards Shuttle from hotel to church Using my own hairdresser Friday night wedding keeping guest list small (hoping to have 100 guests in total) No +1 unless spouse, fiance, or significant other registering at Macys and BBB

-not adding ceremony flowers (RH wedding) -no slipper baskets (although i want still them) -no fancy headpieces or jewelry -not adding to the coach wristlets fot BM gifts as I had planned -did a lot of DIY to save $ (menus, programs, etc)

A lot of girls said they used/will be using their own hairdressers. I was thinking of just asking my regular hairdresser to do my hair but I am not sure. For the girls who did this, did you still do a trial? TIA!
I say it depends on how well you know youre hairstylist. My girl has been doing my hair for over 5 years. I had seen her wedding books and knew she did wedding hair. So I didnt even do a trial with her. So pretty much, it depends on how well you kow and trust your own stylist.

Hmmm....We chose the least expensive hall we looked at (deal for 100 year anniversary). I don't want slipper baskets or cameras for the tables. That's all I can think of for now.

i made alot of DIYs I went with wedding world for my vendors instaed of higher priced vendors and booking seperatly. I negotiated with everyone! i got alot of my costs down that way. I went with short simple CPs i didnt do anythign extravagant. Im good at stretching a dollar

Good post!
My wedding is by no means 'budget'...for instance we splurged on a band, photographer, videographer, shuttles, etc.....but we really did save in a lot areas!
*Sat day wedding and we booked 6 mos out which was a HUGE SAVINGS!!!!
*Went cheaper but elegant on flowers (see my album for picks)....total price $1600
*Many DIY still in the making
*Inexpensive inivations at Party City
*Bargained with all the vendors because our wedding is so soon!!!!!
*Limos for drop off/pick up only
*Cheap veil from ebay
*Shutterfly for STD

I'm NOT doing: STD's Menus Table Numbers We Do letters (didn't even know what they were!) Day after brunch Cry packs Slipper baskets (wear comfortable shoes...duuhh!!) favors (making a donation instead)
I found a great deal on invites (350$$ for 150...I'll let you know if I like them when I get them...) I'm also having someone bring altar flowers from church to reception hall
That's pretty much all the 'corners' I can think of. Unfortunately, it's not as much as I thought!!

Well I have just begun the process and I already know I am NOT hiring a coordinator-Thats why I have myself and both of my MOH's and a year and half in front of me JT does provide one but then that's another TIPPING envelope that I don't need
No disposable cameras (my ppl will take them home and never return them)
I will make my programs. I might even make my invites (They are just gonna go in the garbage anyway)
One limo for the bridal party and one for me and FH
No candy bar,no cake topper (just realized its really unecessary)
No groom cake (FH doesnt like cake)
I will be making my Flower girl basket-she'll prob lose it by the time reception starts anyway
My BM pomanders will work as boo-k's and the Daise decorations And now that I think about it-the guys don't need boutinneries (sp?)
Little or no church decorations-We don't plan on being there long
Not getting designer shoes-No one will see them and I'll prob end up wearing flip flops by the second dance!
I'm getting married on a Sunday afternoon and told the RH what I was willing to pay and he came back $5 less then what I originally quoted
And the biggest money saver-Cutting my list from 325 to 200 within 20 minutes of getting my 1st quotes. And ladies this is small for FH and I!
Thanks for the suggestions ladies, this really has me thinking.
BTW what are cry packs? You mean to tell me ppl just can't bring kleenex with them if they are gonna cry?!

Ohh I forgot- My Matron of Honor does beautiful hair will be doing my hair the day-She's a great! No slipper baskets-I always bring a spare when I go to a party wearing uncomfortable shoes, so can everyon else No OOT baskets-my family will understand and not too many of them are even staying in hotels. AND NO DAY AFTER BRUNCH..I'm on a plane to the Carribbean the next day!! Woo HOOO!

I am NOT doing the following: - hiring a coordinator - Making baskets for out-of-towners - No disposable camera - No Candy Buffet - No sushi buffet (so sad about this one but it's $18 pp)
I am saving money by: - making homemade STD cards through Vistaprint (FREE) and having a FREE wedding website - borrowing a veil from a friend - having half tall/half short CPs (I actually prefer my short CPs!!)

im having my wedding on a friday evening..cutting down my wedding list, went with the cheapest florist i could find..did not spend a fortune on a dress..not having a rd (just a small gtg at the house), no cake (cake is included with the hall)

What I Saved on: *bought invites off internet (saved over $90) *booked RH 6 mos. befor wedding (RH want to book their dates by this time!) *having wedding on Sunday * using RH cake and place cards *bought flutes and cake knife/server from terry's village ($37 for both-personalized!) *bought FG basket at Party City ($6!!!) *paying cash for some vendors-saved tax *computer calligraphy instead of hand calligraphy
