What are you doing to 'dress up' your placecard table? UPDATED with crazy idea!

Original post by GettinHutched

I decided placecard holders weren't worth the extra expense....and besides, our placecards are pretty darn cool. But they're just printed on tent cards....and I feel like the table might need 'something.' I'd try to find some Yankee paraphenalia but I'm kind of stumped. I don't want to put anything valuable on the table like a signed baseball...

Any ideas? What are you doing to jazz it up? Thanks!

UPDATE:

I just had a flash of an idea. I was in my old room at my mom's, where two figurines remain. Yes, I have a Derek Jeter figure and a Babe Ruth bobblehead. At home, FH & I have another Jeter figure, and FH has a bobblehead of Roger Clemens. The Derek Jeter figures are actually quite nice- they're literally in 'action.'

Is that nuts? Cheesy? Silly?

here's a pic of one of them:

We had a vineyard theme and had cork placecard holders which were pretty cheap. I also had a high CP with dogwood branches and hanging candles (about $125) and framed e-pics of us. I'm a fan of place card holders. Most are pretty inexpensive and are a nice touch.

My florist is going to add a very unique arrangement on our placecard table for us. It has these branch like things and all the flower colors from our bouquets

Do I remember correctly (sorry if I don't!) -- Don't you guys have E-pics with you in Yankees jerseys? If so, why not frame a couple and put those on the table?

And honestly... those with broken peanut shells isn't a bad idea! (Seriously!)

Hmmm rose petals sounds nice but doesn't quite work with my theme! I bet yours will be lovely! My theme can be a real hassle sometimes!

Hmmm what could I scatter around the table? Broken peanut shells?

Darnit I'm stumped here!!

Actually I love the peanut idea- that would be really funny and cute! You could fill glass jars with peanuts, cracker jacks, popcorn, sunflower seeds. Or you could just put a few boxes of cracker jacks on the table

Would a table top sabrettes cooker be too much?

I am doing a sort of candlescape with some rose petals scattered, and hopefully my epics come out well so I can display one 8x10 or 11x 14 on there too

since you are doing the baseball theme,
why dont' you use beer bottles? start saving them and put guest name label on the bottles?

I kinda like the bobble heads! If you're doing a whole baseball thing anyway. My placecard table had one of the centerpiece vases of roses and a bunch of the frosted votives. Looked good, I thought, I'm quite happy with how my placecards came out. And, boy, am I glad I bought all those extra votives. Timber Point does provide some clear ones, but the room looked so much better with the many, many frosted ones I brought.

I like the bobble head idea. The bets thing to do is probably make a fake mockup really quickly. Just fold up a few cards and arrange em as you would and arrange the bobbles and then go from there. The peanut shells sound cute but they would make me think circus lol without the bleachers and stadium setting. Why not use the bobbles and add framed photos in blue or white (or both) frames of you and the FH in the yankee gear? You can buy really cheap white wood frames and then pinstripe them blue or put yankee decals on them-scrapbooking stuff is always good for stuff like that.

I think the bobble heads alone might be a little out of place. Just me though.

How about laying down a jersey like a tablecloth, and then placing the cards on top of that ?

Or try to find some pinstripe material and make a runner for the table.

That would be cool, or the outfield. Maybe you can find flat baseballs to scatter around instead of petals. Try oriental trading, maybe they have a baseball theme.
