MY DH is going to be traveling and I am so afraid we may black out again and I will be alone!!!
How are you preparing? Is there a list of stuff you can do to stock up in case of a black out?

I'm not doing anyhting because I don't think it will hit, but I would get canned goods, batteries, water, flashlights, candles, gas in your car, cash from the atm, any medications, do some wash, etc...

I wouldn't worry too much, it looks like the hurricane is going to hit around north carolina and we'll just get a day of rain and some wind on friday, but just in case, i have my battery powered radio, still have candles around from the blackout and plenty of batteries

The only reason I worry is because LIPA made some ridiculous statement on the news that 100,000 customers could lose power for up to 30 days if the hurricane hits us

Well, DH is leaving tomorrow and he said he will get a flight back early (Wednesday) if it looks like it is going to hit.
I feel like I should have a check list or something. I mean I have flashlights and batteries (I have three boys so I have cornered the market on batteries!!). I have plenty of candles and I am going to fill up the gas tank in the cars. We filled the tank for the grill in case I can only grill food, but what else???

Just in case....I went food shopping yesterday, and filled up my gas tank. I have batteries and flash lights at home, and candles too. I have to go to the ATM on Wednesday....Dont know how much money I should take out though....
If the hurricane does hit, i hope it hits at night....so everyone is at home and safe....I wouldnt want anyone to get stuck at work or get stuck driving in the storm.

They say that its supposed to hit North Carolina. Its good to have extra batteries, canned goods, candles and flashlights all year round just in case we lose power like last month.

Nothing. The media is RIDICULOUS- makes me embarrassed to be in the industry. I'm not worried in the least bit. We'll get some wind & rain if anything.
