What are you girls doing to make your wedding represent your relationship?
I feel like because of money, we are settling with some things.... what things are you doing to make the wedding represent you two as a couple??

It's soo frustrating! I always thought I'd have a beach or castle wedding... and although CB is really nice, great food etc... it just feels like I settled for another long island factory wedding.... or MAYBE ITS PMS>>>>>lolol

Well...having it on the first day of summer, even though it's a tuesday. We both love summer. And he is letting me go w/ the Hello Kitty theme...because he knows how much I love it and he wants me to be happy! I have been able to make alot of stuff myself so that will save $$ and I have been collecting the Hello Kitty wedding stuff for a while...way before my engagement. So that has saved too.

we are doing silly pictures of us on each table.. We are silly, and we love that about eachother.. We want to have us making funny faces, or doing funny things, or funny pics of us growing up.. on each table.. is that what you mean?? and I'm making a Delta airplane grooms cake for him.. well, having it made for him.. he works for delta and loves planes..

We are country/western fanatics and we are doing lots of country touches at our wedding. I'm having a heck of a time finding stuff in this area though. Anybody know any other western brides?

I think that you can still make your wedding a 'beach' theme wedding.. you can add beachy favors, flowers,etc to your wedding.. it's your day, you can do whatever you want..

I think your ideas are AWESOME! The funny pics on the tables, very original!
And I love the Delta airplane grooms cake idea.. too cute! I have been trying to come up with a good 'grooms cake' idea .. hmmm

Why not cancel your place, and have it on a beach? Or is CB not fancy enough, and you think only a castle will do? If money is the problem, is it you think you deserve better than the place you can afford?
I'm confused by your post, but mostly the subject line. How does a beach or castle represent your relationship?

Where are you getting the grooms cake? I want to get a cake in the shape of a cowboy hat or boot, and I have no clue what bakery makes odd cakes.

The first place we lived together was in Long Beach... we love the beach and that is where FH proposed.... As for the castle thing... its like a fairytale...like our relationship! I like CB alot or else I wouldnt have chosen it... I guess I'm just nervous

Its understandable that you are nervous .. I triple-guess myself all the time .. but maybe you should give yourself a little while to think it over .. Don't do anything hasty yet or outright cancel your hall. Eventually you will come to the decision ...whatever is in your heart!
Remember - do what YOU WANT and try not to compromise.. I know the $$$ issue is tough for all of us, and sometimes gets in the way of our 'ideal wedding' plans. But you can make you day as special as you want to, given some imagination and originality!

There is no reason why you couldnt do a beach like theme at chateau. get married outside, give dolphin bottle openers, do a casual summer themed invite and centerpiece. If you have a DJ, give out sunglasses, straw hats etc. wear flipflops.. there are so many beach ways to go without physically getting married at the beach. You can make a newletter that goes on the table that tells how you met etc...just some ideas for thought.

Here's what I'm trying to tell L. You and your FH will make the wedding, not the place where it is. I understand your like for the beach, that makes for a nice wedding unless you get bad weather, or low tide.
Castles are nice, but you have to think what else that 'site fee' could go to, in your relationship. I'm sure it's tough not to second guess yourself after you pick a place, I haven't had that chance yet though. If you are convinced that CB is a wonderful place, with great food, then there is nothing to worry about.
If you are worrying about impressing people by having it in a castle...don't. Impress them by having a fun wedding that's enjoyable to be at.

I don't know - we're both writers and sci-fi/ fantasy geeks - but we don't want to be too geeky. I'm trying to convince FI to walk down the aisle to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, but he hasn't agreed yet. Maybe the table names, but I don't think he wants to do that either!
