Just curious... it seems like there are so many extra things out there that people do for their wedding... I was curious if I'm the only one who isn't planning on doing them all...
Some of the things I don't think I'm doing (in no particular order): -Save the date cards -engagement pictures -out of town baskets -slipper basket -'we do' letters -groom's gift (we're buying each other our rings, I think that's enough) -anything special to 'ask' our bridesmaids/groomsmen -aisle runner -ringbearer/flowergirl (there's nobody in our immediate families to fill this, and while we could have a distant cousin or a neighbor, it just seems pointless) -unity candle (not sure about this one) -cake server
and there are probably others... am I the only one or are these pretty customary for everybody else? What other things are you choosing not to include in your wedding? On the other side of the coin, what unusual things ARE you including?

Definitely not doing: - slipper basket - OOT bags - custom aisle runner (limo co provides one I probably won't use) - ring bearer - cake server - garter toss - bo-k toss - petal cones (petals can go in a basket and everyone can grab a handful)
Unusual things we are doing: Weather permitting groom is arriving at ceremony via boat, and I'm arriving via horse & carriage (my childhood dream) - we are doing sand ceremony (not so unusual on LIW, but unseen in my family and his) - photo cube is a maybe (again not unusual on LIW but unseen in my family and his)
Like everyone else, I'm sure there is more but that's what is coming to mind at the moment.

cry packs petal cones no ring bearer cake server slipper basket (but I'm on the fence about it) no extra DJ stuff no rehearsal dinner no rehearsal for that matter gifts to each other...we have the rest of our lives to give each other gifts! no organized dances videographer no parents gifts (we're paying for their albums, if that counts!) Chocolate fountain Vienesse hour engagement party no chair covers

No engagement party No shower No crypacks No OOT baskets No aisle runner No cake server no bride & groom champagne flutes No ring bearer or flower girls, no kids for that matter No veil (as of right now, subject to change) No tossing of anything at us (no petal cones) No receiving line No DJ giveaway stuff or anything No bells & whistles on the video - documentary style No gifts to each other - we're over budget as is No parents albums No organized dances no bo-k toss no garter toss no choclolate fountain or vienesse - there's so much food as it is we do letters - I don't even know what this is limo for BP - they'll go on a chartered bus with some of the OOT guests
I AM doing or did do:
STD's favors unity candle or sand ceremony, not sure epics programs menus slipper basket cheesy matches with our name and date

The only unusual thing we are doing is releasing balloons with postcards attatched after the ceremony. I've always wanted to do that!

Anything DIY- I am NOT a crafty person. I could injure myself with Elmer's glue. Garter toss. OOT/Slipper/Bathroom Baskets. Special bridesmaid invites/newsletter. Stattions at the CH- just passed hor d;ourves fruit, veggies and cheese.

some people paint or decorate large letters (usually wood, I think) to spell out 'We Do' or 'I Do' and put them near the cake, guestbook, or placecards.

programs I didn't wrap my favors cry packs petal cones slipper basket bathroom basket rehearsal dinner (or a rehearsal for that matter ) no grooms cake no videographer (but regret this one!) no garter or bo-k toss none of the guys wore a tux, neither did my DH no wedding gifts were exchanged between DH and I 'we do' letters e-pics no custom aisle runner no ring bearer or flower girl no cake server or toasting flutes no unity candle
