Now that I have picked the BM dresses (which are a very reasonable price), I am getting very interesting questions from my BMs. Can one stay in my appt. to save money, how much will I pay towards the dress, what accessory will I be giving them. Is it just me.............
I had planned on giving them all a wrap, necklace and having their hair done.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I was in bridzilla's wedding, my hair cost 60 bucks, makeup I did myself because I wasen't paying anymore and we were told the christmas prior to it to ask for Diamond Earings because she wanted us in Diamonds. She also told us no other jewerly because we were getting gloves and the gloves were about another 40 once dyed. I hated it and help my girls out. They helped me through 2 showers along with the postponement and putting the wedding back together in 3 weeks.

I am buying jewelry, I got them wraps made, and I'm planning a lunch/spa day to thank them for helping me with the wedding planning.
I actually paid for one of my BM's dresses and the 2 flowergirl dresses b/c first they are family and second i was in everyone of their parents weddings and they paid for my dresses. I'm returning the favor.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I'm buying their jewelry for the wedding. (earrings and necklaces) Buying them gifts to give out at the RD also, a basket full of their favorite things.
I will see about paying part or all of hair/makeup, but only if my Daddy gives me a chuck of change for the wedding

I agree with beachbride, to a certain extent, paying for hair and make up, manicure and pedicure, and hotels while in town. And of course their personal gifts...

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I think you should reconsider your BP. Sorry, but true. BMs know, or should know, that they are responsible for paying for their gown and accesories. As a bride, I believe you are responsible for having flexibility in knowing that a $400 BM gown might not be the best idea for your friends, or making them have their hair done is not fair unless you pay for it. And staying in your apartment to save money? I think that perhaps this friend might not be able to afford being a BM and you need to speak with her and be honest. If she cannot afford to LIVE and EAT and you don't want to pay for her bill, then she should bow out of the BP. A friend in a bad financial sitution is one thing, and I would suggest helping her out if you really want her in the BP. But to have so many girls asking you stuff is a bit much IMO. For some reason I think the gown you picked must be very, very expensive. How much is it? I paid 1/2 of my sister's gown (she had surgery and was out of work for over a month), paid 1/2 of my best friend's gown (her daughter was also my Jr. BM so my friend had double the expense), paid for my best friend's makeup trial, gave everyone a gift basket with a monogrammed robe and spa stuff in it (as a BM gift), gave my sister a beautiful pin, gave my best friend a pair of earrings. The girls were all responsible for their gowns/wraps, shoes/pantyhose, hair/makeup (if they wanted it done). I also allowed them to pick out their own shoes and jewerly. I hate the cookie-cutter look. I also purchased pretty hair pins for all of my girl's who had their hair done at my house. My mom and stepmom paid for my shower, so they did not have that big expense. We paid for our wedding so I couldn't afford to buy them all their gowns. Maybe if we didn't pay for the wedding we would have paid 1/2 of everyone's gown and for the hair/makeup.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
Picked out a $150/dress which they had to pay for. They chose their own shoes, jewlery, etc..
I paid for their hair and they paid for their makeup (optional).
They paid for my shower (mostly MOH did) and I got them nice gifts as well as nice bridesmaid luncheon.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I'm buying them cute gifts (got them all a bath kit, a nailpolish, a candle from illuminations and a pair of cute pj bottoms). I'm also paying the tip for JN for those that are doing makeup. I'm also paying for my MOH's mani/pedi as something xtra for her.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
My BMs got to pick their dresses from several I picked out. The most expensive one was $130. The shoes I asked them all to get was about $50.00.
I sent them flowers when I asked them to be in the wedding and I bought them VS pajamas as gifts.
Those girls you are talking about sound like they are about 10 seconds from possible turning you into bridezilla. I think you should let them know up front how much EVERYTHING will be and leave it at that. You do not want people coming to you last minute complaining about expenses.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I'm with Michele. When you are asked to be in a BP, the unspoken part of that conversation is that you know you will need to pay for your own gown and accessories. I went out of my way to find a beautiful dress for all the girls that would not cost and arm and a leg. We found the perfect dresses that came with a wrap for $109 (no tax, no shipping). Shoes they were on their own with..all I said were dyed to match and no sandals. Also I gave no direction with jewlery. One wore pearls, the other a gold necklace and the others just some earrings. Yes, being in a wedding is costly especially if you have to travel for the wedding, but it comes with the territory. I personally, would never ask for assistance from a bride if I was in her wedding...unless it was a huge financial burden. I would decline and offer to help in other ways before expecting someone to pay my way.

Re: What are you paying towards your BM expenses
I am having 7 girls-if I paid for their dresses and shoes and alterations it would cost me like 5 grand-don't think so. I am paying for the 4 girls who aren't from out of state to get their nails/toes done and am getting everyone their wedding jewelry and maybe a little something extra for my MOH.
Edited to say-I was in all of these girls weddings and paid enough money-so now it's thier turn
