i am still planning but i know for sure that we will skimp on the invitations and im going to DIY my STDs and Ceremony Programs.....and i know for sure that i will not be doing a bathroom basket/slipper basket/cry packs etc.

also going to try to work some magic with the florist to keep the cost down low centerpeices with cheap flowers!

We too are getting married at the hall itself, and I'm not sure how this is saving us money! They charge $500. The reverend is charging $500 and I'm wondering if we need flowers??? Is it the limo rides and organist?

We're getting married on a Thursday (Thanksgiving), so they're throwing the extra rooms in the hall for free.

Our Rabbi is also giving us a discount because it's Thursday ($100 cheaper)

We'll move our centerpiece flowers from the ceremony room to the tables after the ceremony (save on ceremony flowers)

my hall charges a fee if you want to have the ceremony there but they provide flowers and other stuff included in that.

Veil from ebay - ginger4wedding is the seller's name.

Only $20 and I am happy with it!

Also got favors from ebay for around $2 per couple.

Wearing silver shoes that I wore for a friend's wedding and can wear again $50 but can be used mulitple times.

Buying bridesmaids gifts on ebay (pashminas) and having my sister make jewerly

Leaving out some small details: OOT boxes, crypacks, slipper baskets, bathroom baskets, chair covers, etc.

Using menus from reception hall. DIY placecards.

Invitations cheap from www.invitationsbydawn.com - fantastic service!

1. bought invitations at Michael's and printed them myself. Waited for sale weeks with 50% coupons and bought them then - - dragged DH to use more coupons!!
Added bonus in printing them yourself - - Any left over I used as thank yous for bridal shower and used response envelopes for tips. girls were impressed that the thank yous matched the invites; they thought I ordered them that way!
2. made rose shaped lollipops myself as favors. Again used ACMoore and Michael's coupons to buy supplies. Printed favor tags myself instead of buying personalized ribbon - - way cheaper with tags.
And if I didn't do this project we would have not bothered with favors at all.
3. did not do church programs - - I think another bride said most weren't used or left behind. She was bummed at the time it took and how they weren't used.
You may want to look at newlywed chat board they posted a similar topic for you to get ideas about 'regrets' what took time and really wasn't needed.
4. RH had personalized menus so used them.
5. used their table numbers.
6. was going to use their placecards too but because of favors printed place cards to attach to them.
Using RH supplied items saves you money and precious time you don't have, to do DIYs.
7. bought my dress at Estelle's. they have nice selection and prices less than bridal shops. Got tiara there for $49 and bead trimmed veil for $99.
8. used broken in pair of fairly new white shoes so toes were not terribly sore!
9. did not do cry packs, slippers, bathroom baskets etc. Let the guests fend for themselves.
10. did not use DJ for cocktail hour music since that was extra charge. Used background music from RH. And guests so immersed in all that food and eating they don't notice music then anyway.
11.Used LIwedding reviews and chat info to select vendors and did not go with the highest prices - - more reasonable vendors produce products that are good too. Some may be even better, some not. but almost all my guests said our wedding was the best they have been to and they have been to alot!

I didn't really cut any corners. I just didn't splurge on anything. I tried to get the best prices I could for everything.
Got inexpensive invites from Party City, used the centerpieces provided by the hall so I only needed bouquets & boutonnieres, got only one limo for us & the BP, chose a dress that cost under 1K, went to a salon for hair and makeup, and used reasonably priced vendors for everything.

we got some pretty good deals on vendors, but havent really need to cut many corners YET!

Maybe we just dont have expensive tastes b/c we dont have a large budget my any means.
