Were they really strict when you were growing up? Or really laid back?
Mine were pretty strict, although I was a really good kid. They probably did more bad things when they were young than I did...I think my grandparents on both sides were more laid back--is that weird?
Now my parents are very silly...my mom is constantly singing along with the radio and then saying Did you hear what they just said?!?!? (favorites include Shaggy's It Wasn't Me and Sugar Ray's Every Morning)

Re: What are your parents like?
My Dad was strict, bur more so with my sister than with me. My parents were married but we didn't really have a good relationship.
My Mom...is GREAT. She was somewhat strict, but in a good way. She wasn;t over the top, and I had lots of respect for my mom, os I'd never really want to disappoint her.
I hope that I am half the mom to my kids that my mom is to me and my sister

It is hard to say because my childhood was so odd. Up until I was 11 I would say that my parents were not too overbearing and strict. Then my older brother was killed and they obvioulsly got a little more cautious and protective. All in all I would have to say that other then the over protective part they were great parents.

Re: What are your parents like?
growing up, my parents were somewhat strict, until they divorced when i was 11. I moved out at 15 to live with my grandmother and she was very laid back. I see my parents now and they treat my brother total opposite of how they treated me when I was growing up. Hes 14 and curfew isnt until 11. I wasnt even allowed to walk two house down after dark by myself.
Anyways, now I think they are very laid back. My mom and dad are both big partiers, but thats prob because they are still young. My moms new husband acts like a grandpa, and tries to enforce these stupid rules like no one is allowed in the house when hes not home, yet we are 20 + years old.

Re: What are your parents like?
Both my mother and my step mother were abusive and cruel to me. That goes beyond strict. No food after 8pm even though I was out at school or such. No lights after 8pm and so forth.
My father... He's my saving grace. Snuck me food when I was hungry, picked me up from school when I was sick but sent anyway. Passed me money for a coke at school games.
I was a good kid. Mostly because I never wanted to cause my father trouble.
My grandma (dad's mom) was strict but with me she was also very instructive if that makes sense.
My grandpa (dad's dad) VERY lay back. Always giving us candy. His wife (my step grandmother) was an alocholic but very happy drunk.
Great Grand Ma (dad's grandma) REALLY strict. She was always mean to my grandpa and sorta blew off my father as he was the youngest but she seemed to want to know me. Frankly she scared me. She died when I was 20 or so and she was over 103.
My grandmother (real mom's mom) was a #$tch. She and her daughter (my real mom) had so much in common. She died asking for my forgiveness, so I hear. Too bad she never talked to me on her own. Could do something with the fact she helped burn all my childhood pictures and memories. grr
My grandfather (real mom's dad) was murdered before I was born. He owned a cookie factory. I hear he was a harda55 as well. But I never knew him.
All i can say is Thank God for my father and brother.
