What are your thoughts on........ (w/ Poll!)

......having BMs wear different dresses of their choice?? All of the dresses would be from the same designer and would have the same fabric, color, and length...but would be different styles. I keep going back and forth on this so want to see what you girls think.

Yay or Nay???

I love the look of different dresses and I really want the girls to be happy about themselves in the dress and comfy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this look for small bridal parties.. like 3 or 4 girls all in different dresses... When it gets to be larger though, I feel like it looks like too much is going on in the pictures.. also, if its a lot of girls, there is more of a chance that 2 pick the same dress and it might look unbalanced... I voted nay only because I really love the way all the girls in the same dress look

personally, I would like a neat, and uniform look for my girls. Luckily we all got together, and picked out a dress online that would fit everyone beautifully.

We just need to actually go to the store to try them on now LOL.

this is what im doing, i like idea of everyone having something a little different, i also think the bms are happier knowing they have some choice in the matter, i am going to pick a few styles and tell them to choose between them.

I really think it is important for our BMS aka our hopefully best friends to feel comfortable on our day!!

i was a bm 3 times and all 3 times, hated what i had to wear and it was sucky cause i wasn't comfortable at my bff's wedding

I think it will look great! def go for it!

I voted yes. I want all of my bridesmaid to be comfy, so I don't want to force them into something I like. I rather they choose.

yeah, this is what one of my friends did and it worked out well because all the girls were different shapes

I was in a wedding and that is how my friend had us BM's. I have pics in an album if you want a visual. But it came together really nice.

She picked like 6 or 7 dresses and we got to pick which of those we wanted - amazingly enough non of us picked the same one LOL.

Just the 2 MOH's were in the same dress but it was totally opposite from the rest of us.

I like the idea. It can make your pics really interesting. If the dresses are all the same color etc, you'll be able to fit everyone's body types and you'll avoid the arguments.

this is what i'm doing. i dont want the girls to spend $ on dresses they don't like so i'd rather give them the option of picking it - as long as i pick the color and fabric. I like it - i think it's different - let the ppl see the girls' personalities

it seems alot of us are going this route. I have a 4'10 redhead that weighs 100lbs and a 5'10 brunette that weighs 150lbs- there is no dress that will look great on them and be in their budget and be comfortable.

I was all for it and might still do it for my wedding (but with limitations, of course).

But I'm in my friend's BP (who is getting married in October of this year). This is how BM gown searching went down:

My friend wanted sage and eggplant BM gowns. Everyone in a different one. So at first I thought she would have us all in eggplant with a sage sash or something.

But no. That's not how it went down. 2 of us wanted sage and 4 of us wanted eggplant. Instead of 'laying down the law' she said that was OK with her. So now we have 2 BMs in sage and 4 in eggplant, and all in different gowns. All different lengths - one floor length, two tea-length, and 3 knee length. In fact, two of the girls are even in a different type of satin and they refuse to pay to 'change' the gown to regular satin like the rest of us. IMHO it looks RIDICULOUS. But it's her wedding so I don't say a word.

My advice would be pick a fabric, pick a length. If you want multiple colors,make sure you have even numbers (e.g. if you have 6 BMS, do 3 and 3 or 2, 2, and 2 or have your MOH in one color and the rest in another). I think we just needed more 'rules' from the bride.
