Scarlett Letter was the first one that came to mind as far as required reading. Interview with a Vampire was the only 'leisure' book I couldnt get through. I couldnt get through the movie either.

Shakespeare is the only one I can think of right now...I think the stories are great...but just wordy...
however...i thought Heart of Darkness was fabulous!! but that might be because I find the age of imperialism very intriguing...
I will add The Lovely Bones to my list as well...

It's been a long time since I've outright hated a book.
I had a hard time getting thru the Iliad and the Odyssey, required reading for a class. I recall having a hard time with the Cliff Notes!

I just read 'The odyssey' for school (again). The translation i read was easy to understand. I love it.
I liked 'Catcher in the Rye' in high school, but i bought it recently to read again, and i hated it. Didn't even finish it.
I HATE shakespeare!
LOVED of mice and men in high school!
'the witching hour'. I read a little and there were just too many darn characters to keep track of!!
