I'll have to think about a hate one. But, I LOVE the Catcher in the Rye! I wrote my HS Senior year term paper on it! I dissected the book completely and found so many underlying themes. What didn't you like about it?

I love Catcher In The Rye too. I could not read Scarlet Letter and I can't stand Shakespeare.

Michelle, I too HATED Catcher in the Rye. I think it is perhaps the worst book I ever read. It blows my mind how much acclaim that book gets. I am happy to know there is someone else out there that did not like that book. People usually look at me llike I have two heads when I express my opinion about it.

I LOVE Shakespeare and the Scarlet Letter. I tried really hard to get thru Mrs. Dallaway last week- it was torture for me so I stopped and will try again another time.
I think people just enjoy different types of books that's all. Catcher in the Rye was pointless- for me. But I know lots of people who love the book and swear it is amazing.

I think with Catcher it depends when you read it. I read when I was 16 and I could relate to Holden. When I had to reread it in college I did not like it as much. I am sure if I reread it now I would be like what was I thinking.

Crime and Punishment by Dyostevesky (sp?) - the only book I had to buy Cliff Notes on! Could not finish it and I can get through anything!

Brave New World was dreadful for me in high school! Lately the last book I had a really hard time reading was The Shipping News.

I hated Scarlet Letter too. In hs I always read all my books but for some reason I couldn't get past the first chapter on that one. I remember getting an A on my paper on it and I didn't even read more than a couple pages. I couldn't get thru Huckleberry Finn either. Also, not into Shakespeare.
I never get to read anymore. My commute is too short and crowded and all I read are my boring technical mags and guides for work. yucky!

I HATED Lord of the Flies. In high school, I read just the cliff notes for this book, that's how bad I thought it was
