What can I do part time to make at least $400 a week after taxes??

Of course this has to do with my post about wanting to go back to school....

When I was in college, I used to waitress and I found that to be the best money but I really don't want to do that again!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have no answer, but I'd sure like to hear some possible ideas! :)

waitressing or bartending are the only things that are coming to my head right now.

I'm sure there are other things, I just can't seem to get my brain out of weekend mode right now.

Def. bartending!

I waitressed, bartended and even once in a while was a shot girl (I did this during summer breaks from college, even my first year of law school).

The money is great...but the hours are tough.
On a Friday night, I could walk out of there with $250 in cash (bartending).

This may sound strange, but some funeral homes pay the people who greet at the door & answer the phones pretty well!! Anywhere from 10-15 dollars per hour in some places & sometimes off the books!!

Plus the can be down time for studying if there is a quiet night, which is plus!!

I was afraid that most of the answers would be waitressing or bartending!!!

Heheheheh... well if there were any other answers... believe me you wouldn't have to ask because everyone (including myself) would be doing it.

Sorry but I have to say bartending. When I am not doing a show ( which is far too often) I work at a bar in Midtown and I make that in 2 nights if I do at least one weekend night.

unfortunately, i am going ot have to say bartending also. the money is awesome, especially if you bartend in a good location. I bartended at the Inn and the Saloon when i moved to long beach and made more money in one weekend then i did in my two week teacher salary. but i also worked the whole weekend and gave up my life.

its tough though.. long hours, weekend work...
i quit the scene ;ast year and although i miss the money so much, i like having my life back.

now i tutor and teach summer school to make some extra cash. its no bartending but it'll do!

BARTEND! If you get in at the right location, you can make a ton.....

I still have yet to match in a week what I used to make in one weekend of bartending!

Ok, now that everyone is saying bartending....I have no experience!!! I've only waitressed before. Do places hire bartenders with no experience?

I was hired at a bar with no experience, of course I lied and said I had experience! You get the hang of it very quickly...drinks are fairly easy...vodka and cranberry, beer, etc.

If you don't know how to make something, just ask.

When DH and I were first dating I gave him a mini bartending coarse and he had a job in the city in a day. You should just get a good bartending book and study the drinks. I have been bartending for about 12 yrs. and I still occasionally have to look something up. Most people stick to the basics.

Yeah, there's some programs that are about $250 for bartending. I was considering taking one myself. You can either do a 5-day 8-hr a day course, or one that's a couple weeks long and is only evenings or mornings.

i had taken a bartending course a long time ago for a couple of hundred dollars. it didnt help at all. when i was hired as a bartender, i learned through making the drinks myself. buy a book, set up a bar and practice making drinks if you can. most people in bars order similar drinks... I worked at a place where it was beer, shots and the occasional apple martini and cosmo.

Thats my field and these girls make alot of $$$$. Part time they tend to pay less but you can still make $10-$15 an hour easily. Full time you can make $25! And the work really isnt that hard! And its ' office hours' which arent sunday usually or late.
