Re: What catering hall would you choose??
I would go by how the hall looks and the price per person. I would pick something that's in my budget. Is there anything special that you're looking for in a hall.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
Ok well cresthollow was nice but i was not very impressed. The rooms were not my taste the staff seemed nice but i have read several reviews about the waitstaff being rude to the guests. They have a beautiful pool which would be nice for a summer wedding but i am getting married in feb/march. The price they gave me for a fri night wedding was $57.50. But i don't like anything else. My FH thinks its great because the place is huge, but to me the rooms are very 80's with mirrors all over and mahogoney and gold and brass around the room, and thats ok if your looking for thatBut i also saw Jericho terrace and fell in love the price is more but I think i would have the perfect wedding and it's not going to break the bank, they even showed us the kitchen and took us into the fridge and freezer, i had not one complaint about it. now I'm trying to convice him because he said he didn't like anything, we also went at 2 different times i went when the wedding was just starting and he went at 11:00 at night as weird as that may sound because he just got off work, ladies if anyone has seen them both and experienced them or even just one please give me your opinions even your FH ask them their opinion

I say look more and don't limit your options.I don't know what your budget it but what about Lombardi's on the Sound, Port Jeff CC.
I just had my wedding their and they did some great renovations. I had a few issues with them but nothing that any guest would have noticed. It really was a fabulous wedding.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
Don't just pick the first one you fall in love with ..... Something better might be out there ... Keep your eyes open and don't worry you will find the right one.. It took me about 15 halls before I found the right one and then I still didn't book it right away I went home and thought about it.... Good Luck

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
I think you need to know the tone of the wedding first. I knew I wanted off the water in Sept and not your 'typical' reception hall. I fell in love with the Riviera for the warm rustic feel to it. And I know it is a new one for my family and they will flip over it! But I did go see as many places that I could where you had outdoor ceremony options off the water.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
I looked at one place. I had talked to several places and looked at pictures, but when I went to my place I knew that it was where I wanted to get married. I went home slept on it and still felt the same they next day so we booked it. I have no regrets and I had an absolutely wonderful wedding. I think if you feel like it is the perfect place then go with your gut.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
Hi!I'm new to this site but couldn't help answering you
.We saw 11 halls (crest Hollow was one of them, we even went to a wedding there and were not impressed) among them were Villa Lombardi's, Leonard's, Majestoc Gardens, etc. We went to both Nassau and Suffolk Co. looking for the 'perfect place'. We ended up booking with Jericho Terrace. They gave us the best service (also had the kitchen tour), price (ASK for freebies and bargain the pp price down...we got OT for a lot less and are having a 6 hour reception!) and the place is just beautiful. Plus even though they can do up to 3 weddings at a time, not only are they staggered but they are on completely different floors and each floor has its own guest rest room. We dealt with Mike Closs...if you weren't dealing with him, call him and if it helps tell him Sasha sent you. I literally call him at least once a week to ask questions, vendor reviews, voice concerns and he is more than helpful. We have no concerns about JT. Whatever you choose, I agree with the above poster, it has to feel right to both you and your fi.
Best wishes,
Sasha

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
I dont know, I only looked at 2. Hated the first, loved the second, so I booked with them, IMO, why keep looking if you find something you like? I didnt want to deal with looking more...since I loved the 2nd place we went to. We went to contract that night - and it was only the 2nd night we were looking.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
I've been to 2 we3ddings at crest hollow and they were both great, but the place is too...I don't know..modern for my taste.I'm in the same dilemma. We look at inexpensive halls,a nd wed save a lot of $$, but we have one we love, and it's more than we wnated to spend, but it's PERFECT..so we're going to keep looking..there are a LOT of halls out there. I'd really work out exactly how much more it's going to cost you, and think of what ou could do with teh moneya nd if it's worth it, but first i'd look at toehr halls. there are other nice halls which will be inexpensive on a friday evening!!!!! So don't make ti a choice between one you love and one you don't like, keep looking, hopefully you'll find the perfect one..that's what we're trying to do! This site is great. Post something like 'Halls similar to Jericho terrace?' and see what people post. tehre might be one with teh same feel for less $$, although I know JT is a very elite hall!

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
We looked at the Jericho Terrace and almost booked there...but I didn't like the idea of not being the only bride. They explained about the staggering, etc. but the bridal suite for the middle floor room (the one that looks like a villa...) is one flight donw (kind of basement level) and is right across from the basement level room and bridal suite. further, the guests from the weddings on middle and basement floors use the same bathroom...soemthing they didn't show us the first and second time we went there! Be careful of what they don't show you...even tho they do show the the kitchen, etc.!

We went EVERYWHERE, Nassau Queens and Suffolk. We went with Giorgios because we loved the site, the food is out of this world and the service is great! It was the perfect combo for us! Especially that it's on a golf course on the beach!

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
We loved the Crest Hollow. The people there treated us so nice and we loved the look of the hall. Unfortuntaley they were avout $20 more per person and wanted us to guarantee 40 more people. We couldn't swing it so we went to Leonard's, our second choice.I think you need to narrow down the type of atmosphere you want to have at the wedding.

me too. We only looked at 1 place, but we both agreed on it. If you are split, should really talk about what each of you is looking for, that may help you narrow your search.

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
it's really about how you feel when you are there--aside from the budget part of course!we went to 11 halls and ended up going with the Carlye--the 1st one we saw. we debated due to the price but stood on the dance floor in the empty room and felt that was the only place we could have our first dance as man and wife. I know it sounds cheezy but it's true!
we are now saving more then we had hoped to because we loved it so much but we only plan on doing this once so make sure you get what you want and where you feel right!

Giorgio's is awesome! It has great food, wonderful service and is the most elegant place! It is also set on a golf course out east, so the scenary is breathtaking. For 2005 they are have retro pricing. I booked for 2006, so it didn't apply but I would check it out!www.giorgiosatfoxhill.com

Re: What catering hall would you choose??
thankyou all for your wonderful opinions JT for a fri night at 100 to 140 people is only $70 for deluxe menu, and when i walked in there i just knew, i have even slept on it for a couple of days, but he won't budge because he said he doesn't like anything about it. I don't think there is any convincing him. this is supposed to be exiting and I am so stressed. We also looked at Riveria, Sandcastle, NorthRitz, Leanords, marconi manor, John anthonys, Chateau la mer, JT and cresthollow, does anyone know of any other halls simaliar to JT besides Villa Lombardi'sBy the way all thanks for letting me vent
