Are you the interviewer or the interviewEE?? Not sure if you are asking for advice on whether that is a good question to ask someone you are interviewing or if you want an answer about who I relate to.

I work for a children's publisher, so my character preferences changes every day. As a child, I loved reading books about girls and horses. The Misty and Sea Star books by Marguerite Henry were some favorites and some of Lurlene McDaniel's horsey girl characters were great. I desperately wanted my own horse and so I found I could relate to the girls who begged their parents for horses of their own.

Grover from There's a Monster at the End of this Book, because whenever I was really afraid of something when I was a child, I always realized at the end that there was nothing to be afraid of..... Except for the clown in Poltergeist. I still can't sleep with a clown doll in the room

I dont think i read childrens books.. I read kiddie books but other than Peter Rabbit I cant think of any characters.

I read murder mysteries pretty early on.

Other than Sweet Valley High which isnt really children either.

If I had to choose any book I'd go for Princess X'Nedra of Tolnedra, Queen of the West, Wife of the God Slayer, in Belgarath series by David Eddings.
I wish I had her red hair though. She was riot. Loyal to the tooth, quick temper and very brave. She was short and tiny (im not tiny but im short) and you'd be mistaken to underestimate her. She loved her man and fought with him often but kept him in check. She didnt give up her traditions and upbringing but learned to be part of his life as much as if she were born to it.

Mind you this is over a series of 12 books.

Becky - OMG! There's a Monster at the End of This Book was my FAVORITE book when I was little!!! I love Grover

I don't know what character I relate to, but I always wanted to be the girl in the Chronicles of Narnia books (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was my favorite).

The Monster At The End of This Book brought me right back to my childhood!!! As soon as I read this I called up my sister to remind her of it. We LOVED that book!

I was also a huge fan of the Chronicles of Narnia, anything by Judy Blume, Little House on the Prairie, and Anne of Green Gables. I loved Anne!!!!

As far as my faves go, I LOVE 'The Grannyman' by Judy Schachner. And 'How the Cat Swallowed Thunder' by Lloyd Alexander.

Lauren, me too! I loved 'Are You There G_d it's me Margaret' when I was a kid, I was a huge Judy Blume fan, read all her books. Remember 'Forever'? My mom threw it out after she looked through it, she didn't realize the storyline when she bought it. It took me 10 years to finally read it!

All of Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends, Light in the Attic, Falling Up) had the biggest literary impact on me. Also liked Bridge to Terrabithia & Nancy Drew series. Too many more to list!
