What Christmas/Holiday tradition(s) would you like to start????
There are so many times that I've said, 'When I have kids I want to....'
To focus this question a little more, what kind of Christmas/Holiday traditions would you like to start/continue with your kids?
I'd like to have my kids bake cookies with me, just like I did with my mom. I'd also like to get up and have breakfast as a family before opening gifts. I want everyone to get semi-dressed up for the day and really enjoy the entire day. There are so many others I can think of.....you girls go for now lol

I am defintely having my kids wait until Christmas morning to open up the gifts together. I wouldn't want them to open them at midnight like some people do..just my own thing. However, I think it would be fun to give them a small gift the night before, just as an 'appetizer' LOL

Re: What Christmas/Holiday tradition(s) would you like to start????
As a child my favorite christmas tradition occurred on December 6th, AKA St. Nicholas Night. Each year on 12/6 my little brother and I would write out our Christmas Wish Lists and Leave them in our Stockings. We'd put out cookies and milk. Overnight, one of Santa's elves would come to the house, retrieve the list, snack on some cookies and leave a beautifully wrapped gift for each of us. In the morning (sometimes around 3 or 4ish due to excitement), my brother and I would wake up and be overcome by the realization that Santa is thinking of us and will actually be here, himself really soon!!!! St. Nicholas night...by far, one of the best traditions I recall as a child. I'll definitely be carrying it on.

my brothers and I would exchange our gifts on christmas eve, and the rest on christmas morning! I soo miss doing that! once I have more than one child I am totally doing that!

Aww sounds nice ladies...
A student of mine shared that her parents put $1.00 in quarters in her stocking starting December 1st, so that by Christmas, she has $25.00 in it....that is a great idea for an extra gift that kids can look forward to....at least then they can use their own money for something they wanted for Christmas, but just didn't get lol
I'd like to do this, but put a twist on it. You know how people always say that it is smart to put any loose change in a piggy bank of some sort at the end of each day so that they can build up some kind of extra-cash? Well, I'd like to do the change in stocking thing, but use any coins I have left over from the day too. That way, on Christmas, my kiddies will sit together and count to see how much they made that year. I'd be extra careful to put the same amount in each stocking (based on the number of kids we have) and also make sure that each year they get a little bit more.....sounds cool, right? I wish my parents did this! lol

Ooohh, gingerbread house! I DEFINITELY want to do this! We've never done it since my mom isn't big on gingerbread, but I want to do the men/women and house too!

I definitely want to have the tradition of baking cookies on Christmas eve with my kids to leave out for Santa. My Mom actually bought me a Christmas cookie dish this year and said that she specifically bought it for when we have kids together. My Mom also always made it a big deal to change Santa (he's the marker on the calendar) to the next day on the advent calendar so I hope I can make that special for my kids too. And lastly, I definitely want to carry on the tradition of opening gifts on Christmas day, in the morning. None of that early Christmas eve, or opening at midnight stuff.

baking cookies is a must.
i used to love decorating the tree with my parents and sister, so i think keeping that one going is important to me.
i also want to start a tradition with FH and then with the kiddies that every year we get a new ornament for the tree. We are going to start it next christmas and the first ornament will be from our HM in disney. =)

Re: What Christmas/Holiday tradition(s) would you like to start????
Nothing out of the ordinary...just continue the traditions we have now..
Baking, making a snowman if possible, making a gingerbread house, and decorating the tree together...also, in Greece there's a tradition where children would go around the neighborhood and sing Christmas carols on Christmas morning, and the neighbors would give them little goods, candy, cookies, sweets, money sometimes...so I would like for them to learn the Greek Christmas carols as well and take them to their grandparents' to sing for them

Re: What Christmas/Holiday tradition(s) would you like to start????
Every year I give my adult kids and Grandson special ornaments. This year I gave Fred an 'Old World' fish, because he likes fishing. I gave Debi an 'Old World' seahorse, because she likes the beach. In FSIL, Fred's home, his parents, of German heritage, hide a pickle ornament, in the Christmas tree, and when Fred finds it, he gets money. This year, Debi gave Fred a pickle ornament, to begin their own family tradition. It came in a little jar. Mary MOB
