what about bronze maybe? it would keep with the color of the dress and as a metallic it would be easy to wear again and since its a hot color this season there are lots of options in all the price ranges

my BM's ended up wearing brown shoes with their dresses, but thought of going the gold route. The only reason they didn't is that two of my BMs were my younger (much, much younger) step-sisters and my step mother thought gold was 'too mature' for them.

A dyeable, gold, or a bronze.
I would probably try a gold first then go with trying to match a bronze.
I was just at Estelle's on Rt 110 and they have a whole wall dedicated to bronze shoes, I also think there is a section for gold.
