OMG, I just wrote a whole post on raising your credit score and it told me to sign in!! Its all lost!
O.k. well Im going to just write notes.. Ive been researching how to raise credit scores and here some things Ive come across.
Check credit report often. (I check every 6 months) Dispute every single negative thing on your credit report even if it was your fault. Just write a letter to all 3 bureaus with the account number saying this info is not correct, please investigate and delete it.. Sometimes they take it off and sometimes they dont but its worth trying.
You get more points if youre a professional like a lawyer or a teacher so write them and tell them what you do.
More points if lived at same address 5 years or more.. so if you have write them and tell them and ask them to remove all old addresses.
Ask them to remove the aliases that you dont use.
Ask them to remove old employers.
I rasied my credit score quite a bit in the last year by disputing and writing letters.. Give it a shot!

Re: What credit score would you be comfortable with?
i have a providian credit card and i love it because i get a free credit profile on their website that is updated every month from fico. it logs your credit for up to a year. i started at 781 and now for some reason i am down to 761. maybe because i took out a big student loan this year for grad school. i like mine above 750, but i think thats just because thats where its been since i've been monitoring it. i guess i should check what my dh's is...though his should be around the same.
