What decorative accessories work on top of a wall unit in living room?
My wall unit is about five feet high and about four feet wide. It is solid oak...right now I have pictures any other suggestions?

artificial plants are an easy option. I have an empty frame from an old painting that I bought at an antique shop(its about 18x24) on top of our entertainment armoir with fabric draped on it. I also think framed mirrors or art look good sittting on top-not attached to the wall. Marshals always has great architectural accessories like finials & bowls & vases.

What about a row of antique (or just nice hardcovers without their jackets) books with a nice bookend on each?
I used to have this old set of enclyopedias on top of a wall unit that I thought looked really cool.
