I was just wondering for those of you who did a food tasting what it was like.
Did you try alot of samples of different items or did they give you a whole meal?
Also, did you have to pay for it or was it complimentary?
I am going for mine tommorrow night and I just wondered what to expect.
Thanks.

We had a full meal. We did not pay, but we did end up booking that day.

Ours was amazing. We brought our parents and my sister. Each bride and groom had their own table for their families. The had samples of many of the horderves (didn't spell that right). They also brought out huge plates to sample each options for our courses. We didn't pay, it was complmentary. Desert was not included, our cake tasting is a month before the wedding.
hope that helped...

Each reception hall does things differently. At Leonards, the food tasting is for cocktail hour foods only. And it's usually complimentary at most places...after all, they want your business!

I had previously booked leonards. You sit down, they bring small plate, you get up (buffet) and take what you want. They also pass around with hodourvs and they provide you with the drinks. They did not offer the entree.
TOP did not offer a food tasting....I figured its the same like every other hall. My food was cold the day of the wedding but thats because we were going around saying hello to everyone. But the salad was delicious..best salad ever..lol and my plate was pretty good despite it being cold.

EAT !
North Ritz Club does a full meal, with some of the appetizers served butler style and some buffet style. The most popular entrees are served in small portions family style, with the different sauces and veggies on the side. Seconds are offered. They also serve the house wine.
Their tastings are done on a monthly basis, and you can bring a certain number of guests. Each group has their own table.
Take notes on what you like and don't like about the food. You won't remember when it comes time to set the menu.

Mine was right away at when I was just looking at the Hyatt. The food was on a huge plate and there was wine and champagne too. I thought we were going to have to pay but nope..

For us, we were told that the bride and groom would be comped and anyone additional would be 25% off their meal and it's a full meal. However, when we went, our coordinator told us that we could either have sample dishes or a full meal. We decided to have the full meal but she gave us a bunch of appetizers to try and desserts. Then she comp'ed us for all of it! We only had to tip the waiter.

Like the other brides said, each hall does it a little differently. Land's End gave each and their own table and you could invite up to 4 other people. They gave us a full meal of almost all their entrees, all the (alcoholic ) beverages you wanted, and then rolled out the dessert cart. It was free, but they only do tastings for booked clients. We had them include in the contract that we could get our money back within 24 hours of the tasting if we were not happy. At CLM we had a full course dinner with dessert (including the chocolate fountain) and drinks also. We tipped the waiter but that was all we had to do.

Re: What did you do at your food tasting?
After we booked we had a private tasting, just for us and our parents. We each had a full plate with a small piece of 6 or 7 different entrees. It was great! No charge.
