We are going to paint, replace roof, carpet, put a fence up, put ceramic tile in kitchen and remove all overgrown bushes.

1st thing we will do is Paint, Paint ,Paint. 2nd thing we will do is rip up the carpet and put down the wood floors and I am sure we will find PLENT to do after that

We're in the process of all that now... closed March 24, and don't move in until June 1... we:
-took down the wood panelling in the den -tore down wall between kitchen and dining room (will put in a kitchen island with stools on one side) -tore EVERYTHING out of the kitchen, including floors, wallpaper, etc.. and putting in all new cabinetry, applicances, tiles -put up a wall in den to make smaller office and mudroom -painting all the walls -powerwashed exterior -repainting exterior trim and putting up new shutters -putting in new carpeting in bedrooms -tearing up carpet on stairs (nice wood underneath!)
I think that's it!

Had the floors re-sanded painted the rooms I felt I wanted done first - baby room and our bedroom - I wanted those rooms to be complete in the first two weeks - then we worked on our basement - we made it our family room - I do room by room - I moved in Sept. 03 I just finished the living room and am now currently working on kitchen - Now that Spring is here - I want to start outside.

Clean, Clean ,Clean , never relized how dirty the house was when we looked at it !!!Hubby has already taken down the paneling in the living room, primed painted, primed and the bedroom. We'll move in this weekend ,then start getting the yard ready for the horses to move in and the kitchen done.Then on the the rest of the house. Some much work to do and so little time .

Right away: Painted, put new carpets in the bedrooms, installed attic stairs (instead of climbing through the closet ceiling), ceiling fans in bedrooms, put up a new shed.
A few months later: Gave the bathroom a facelift - new vanity & mirror/medicine cabinet
Now: Installing a sliding door to the yard, putting up a PVC fence

DH had a house built June 2002. We had a tenant in there...it wasn't that bad when she left, no major damage just needed cleaning. We painted all the rooms, cleaned the carpets and I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms...the lady who lived there, didn't believe in cleaning the outside of the kitchen cabinets or mop the floor.
We added a room into the garage (took some of the garage space away) and now we have to concentrate on outside!

We: -took down the ugly wallpaper -took down the curtains and window treatments that hadn't been changed for 20 years. -took down some shelving -painted, painted, painted- every room!!!! -replaced upstairs carpet -replaced front doors -had trees and old shrubs removed -had inground oil tank abandoned and replaced with above ground -cleaned out old rotting wood from the fireplace -fixed grout & caulk in shower & tub
We've been in the house since August 15th. Most of that was done by October but the wallpaper, painting & carpet were done in the two weeks before we moved in.

We are going to refinish all the hardwood floors, and possibly paint the immediate rooms that we will use. The 3 other bedrooms we may not paint right away. We will replace all the carpeting in the bedrooms, since my step father is a carpet installer plus for us and my father is a painter and wallpaper hanger another plus. We are going to upgrade the electric (our BM is an electrician) and we will regrade the side of the house.
The just redid all the bathroom this past weekend so we luckily do not have to do that.

We are very lucky as our house is in excellent condition-everything is basically new and doesn't need anything except painting. We are starting that hopefully within the next few weeks!

We pushed out the bedroom and added sliding glass doors at the back of the room to go into the backyard. Added a washer/dryer hookup in a different room. Reconfigured the upstairs into an apartment. Ripped down a wall in the kitchen to open it up, then installing new porcelain floor. Putting in a new vanity in the bathroom. Painting, installing wood floors and a couple of other things. Ahhh so much money.

even before we moved in, we redid master bedroom (new wood floors new paint new floor and window moulding new raised panel doors) other than that we just cleaned cleaned cleaned. Our list grows more and more everyday but we found out we were preggers about 3 weeks after moving in so we stopped doing anything else! Things will just get done S-L-O-W-L-Y now INSIDE: -new wood floors in everyroom(rugs gone!!) -ceramic tile in kitchen -new paint in everyroom -new staircase put in (right now its rug and we want wood) -gut completely and redo both bathrooms OUTSIDE: -fence yard -new driveway -new walkway -take trees down -add to existing landscaping
and we plan to get all this done by end of year!!!!
Its alot but it'll be 'ours' when its done. There is actually more for the list but not for this year. We knew it would be work but not this much!!

We too were really lucky our house needs almost no work everything is in excellent shape.
Here is our list of to dos: INSIDE Paint Living room, dining room and 3 bedrooms refinish wood floors in bedrooms Next year redo den, tear down wall, add skylight, new windows to this room.
OUTSIDE Cut deck down. (we have a HUGE deck that we will never fully use so we want more grass and will trim down deck, make it an octagon shape) put up pvc picket fence in front
Thats it! we have 2 brand new baths, a beautiful kitchen, and new ceramic/wood floors in all rooms except bedrooms!

The very first thing I did was tear off all the trim (window/door casings and all windows) in the entire house!!! I mean everything!!! Then we painted and re-trimmed everything. Peabody was not happy with my decision at the time!!!
