What did you have luck in negotiating?

Original post by EsquireBride

I just answered a post on BHB and I decided to start this topic to help people still trying to book.

I was able to negotiate down my RH per person price and get a lower minimum (only 75!), the flowers, and the photographer and videographer package. A lot may have been because our wedding is in the winter and not on a Saturday. We saved about $5000 over what we probably would have been charged for a Saturday wedding!

I really did not have to negotiate to much because since my wedding is on Thursday my vendors really bought the price down immediately. The only really negotiations was limos, and video. But I saw something I did not need I asked them to remove it to bring the cost down.

YAY for Thursday brides!! hehe..there's not too many of us!

I know that is very true but is slowly becoming popular. I never intended to pick a Thursday but the date is significant for me so I just went with it. I am glad I did.

Yep, it is becoming popular, a few places i wanted to book were already booked for most thursdays in the summer, and my RH was booked for all Thursdays except 2! I had no idea it was so popular, but all the BMs kept telling me it was..people like the idea of saving money and getting a 3 or 4 day weekend!

My RH I talked them down in price and got the mini vienesse table thrown in. We booked our room blocks and bridal suite but didn't sign anything yet so when we go to drop it off next time we are down we will be having a little 'chat' with them as well haha.

But we will be negotiating everything!!

Is it too late to talk them down?

if you signed, it probably will be. But it couldn't hurt to try I guess- you might have better luck of them throwing something in rather than talking the price down though.

if you know what you want and you have a reference price of what you want to spend then people can work with you. dont say ,can you do better.... be direct and firm... say i want to pay $ amount and i want this this and this, can we make a deal and if they say no then walk out belive me they want your money not the other way around be firm

I agree. This is the approach that has worked for me.

I negotiated w. Fox Hollow, Duet, and DJ. I've yet to negotiate w. florists and the band. But I'm sure I will succeed. I did a pretty good job.

Negotiate on everything and don't forget to ask about paying cash and not paying the tax (at least on part of the cost) Tax adds up!
